Go to the polls on March 21st
or early vote NOW!
We know many of you have made multiple trips to the polls over the past few months, but getting out to vote on March 21st is extremely important for our community. The vote is to extend the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) passed in 1995. A “yes” vote would extend the 1% SPLOST on all sales for six years, and the total estimated amount for Counties and Cities is $56 million.
Furthermore, 2022 data shows visitors contribute to 60% of overall spending in the County. This means that our visitors have the potential to support $33.6 million in capital outlay projects, such as road repairs and water projects, for our community. This is in addition to the estimated projection of $19.2 million over the next six years that goes into the County’s general fund from hotel/motel tax paid by visitors. Visitor spending is a huge contributor to lower taxes for the citizens of Fannin County.
On March 21, 2023, polls will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. Early voting runs through March 17th Mon-Friday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and Saturday, March 4 and 11th 9:00 am - 5:00 pm at the Courthouse.
*Please note that the March 21st vote is not for the Education SPLOST (eSPLOST). Education SPLOST will be on the ballot in November 2023.
