DISTRICT 6 SMALL BUSINESS OF THE YEAR

As the 18th Annual Small Business Week is under way, we our newsletter acknowledging District 6 Small Business of the Year All Start Donuts & Burgers at 290 Golden Gate Avenue. Owner and operator, Van, was honored by now Assemblyman Matt Haney in one of his last acts as District 6 Supervisor. Van has owned and operated the corner store café serving breakfast and lunch with everything from classic scrambles to delicious stir fry for close to three decades. Anyone who knows Van, knows she's incredibly resilient with a warm, generous heart. She’s been known to give customers gifts during Thanksgiving. Thank you Van for your strength and warmth and continuing to offer community through your small business and hard work.

MID-MARKET NEWS AND NOTES

NEW BARBECUE COMING SOON

A new barbecue place is coming to 1063 Market Street in the former Raavi space. The team is readying the interior and exterior for an opening in the next week or two. Expect some specials, according to the staff, who we stopped by to meet as they were getting things ready.

BIG LITTLE THINGS

Sometimes it's the little things that have a big impact. We recently stopped by Le Cuisine Café (1145 Market Street) to pick up a coffee ($2.50) and to acknowledge the lovely tables and chairs setup outside with guests sitting and enjoying. We thanked the operator for activating the space. We were met with an enthusiastic: "Of Course! We gotta do it! If we don't do it, who else will? Come on!” We love the entrepreneurial can do attitude of our small business operators who really make a neighborhood special. Thank you!

MID-MARKET THEATERS ANNOUNCE 2022-2023 SEASON

The Orpheum and Golden Gate Theaters announced their new season along with a renovation and new private club experience. Read about it in the SF Business Times. Among the shows are Jagged Little Pill, Beetlejuice, and Frozen to name a few. Get your tickets at Broadway SF.

ACT Strand announced their 2022-2023 season just as the end of an acclaimed run of the play Fefu and Friends, which you can still watch on demand here. Get your tickets for shows, including A Christmas Carol here.

FINAL REDISTRICTING MAP SPLITS MARKET STREET

The Redistricting Task Force has finalized and approved the final district boundaries for San Francisco after a much contested process. Mid-Market will be served by District 5 to the north and District 6 to the south with some portions-depending on your definition-also in District 3.

Many have reached out regarding the shooting of an Urban Alchemy Practitioner on Friday April 29th as reported by SF Chronicle. We were relieved to learn they are in stable condition as of last Friday.

We are inviting the community to hold space this Wednesday 5/4 at 12pm for a casual gathering at the UA Oasis at Turk & Hyde in appreciation of UA. Come and go as you please, meet with UA team members and one another in peace and positivity.
