Dear PARA Member,

The last of the events honoring the 20th anniversary of September 11 is the Candlelight Walk and Reflection Ceremony on October 5 (rain date is October 7). The pre-event check-in is at Liberty and Greenwich streets at 5:30PM. The walk begins promptly at 6:00 PM. The walk finishes at Liberty Park (where it began), when all will go to the Reflection Ceremony. at which PARA Board member Peter Rinaldi and Port Authority retiree Steve Kern will tell their stories of resilience. If you want to attend, please register here by October 4, using the password rtr2021! (Make sure to include the exclamation point.)

On a related subject, the Port Authority produced a special pin in honor of the 20th anniversary of September 11. Retirees can get a pin, one per person, by filling out this form (per the qualifications).

What is PARA?
The Port Authority Retirees Association (PARA), a not-for-profit corporation, was formed in 1989 to promote the welfare of retirees of the Port Authority (and PATH). That is accomplished by Paras acting as spokesperson for Port Authority retirees. We foster and encourage legislation that maintains or improves our circumstances primarily as it affects the pensions of the New York State Retirement System. PARA now has some 4,100 members residing in 39 states and 12 countries. PARA maintains an active affiliation with the Alliance of Public Retiree Organizations (APRO) representing more than 350,000 members throughout New York State.
