Ignite STEM 2.0: Empowering Youth Through Innovation and Hands-On Learning |
This spring, Ignite STEM 2.0 kicked off its 9-week program with a delightful twist—STEM in Bakery Science! Students dove into the world of baking, exploring the science behind ingredients, precise measurements, and chemical reactions. Through hands-on activities like making and decorating cupcakes, they not only honed their baking skills, but also learned to package and market their creations. Some even sold their cupcakes, blending creativity with entrepreneurship. Who knew science could be so delicious?
The fun didn’t stop there! Ignite STEM 2.0 also introduced students to Personal Finance through a Project-Based Learning activity featuring the financial version of the Game of Life. This interactive experience taught students essential money management skills, from budgeting and saving to understanding credit scores and taxes. They explored real-world financial decisions like buying a home or planning for retirement, all while gaining practical strategies for building wealth and achieving financial stability.
|
Ignite STEM 2.0 continues to empower students with hands-on learning experiences that combine creativity, critical thinking, and essential life skills. Check out the attached photos for a glimpse of the fun and learning in action!
Summer Session for Ignite STEM 2.0 will open soon. For more information, please contact Barbara Cousar, Manager of Workforce Development.
