Get Ready to ShakeOut!
This year’s Great ShakeOut earthquake drill will take place Thursday, Oct. 19, at 10:19 a.m. local time. Wherever you are during the drill—at home, at work, at school, or in your car—make sure you know how to protect yourself when an earthquake strikes and practice with us!
The Great ShakeOut is an annual event that helps people around the world prepare for and stay safe during earthquakes. Sign up now to participate and have peace of mind knowing that you and your loved ones will be better prepared to survive and recover quickly from the next damaging earthquake.

Celebrate Ventura County's 150th anniversary at the Mountains to Sea Jubilee, an all-day family event culminating in a music festival! The family fair is free to attend and runs from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Agricultural Museum in Santa Paula. No tickets required, just bring your family and friends!
Following the free family fair, the fun continues at the Jubilee Music Fest at Veterans Memorial Park in downtown Santa Paula. Tickets to the Jubilee Music Fest are $20 per person. Space is limited, so purchase your tickets today. Children 3 and under receive free admission. Jubilee Music Fest gates open at noon, and music runs from 2:30 – 8:30 p.m. The Music Fest line-up includes Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Mariachi Camarillo, Rey Fresco, Whiskey Business, and the Charles Law Band.

Disability Employment Awareness Month celebrates the contributions of America’s workers with disabilities past and present and recognizes the importance of ensuring all people have equal opportunity to contribute their skills and talents.

If you are 18 or older and have a disability, the Workforce Development Board’s (WDB) Disability Employment Navigators can help you find meaningful work. Visit the WDB website now for more details and take advantage of this free service.
WDB is also hosting a Disability Job and Resource Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at America's Job Center of California, 2901 N. Ventura Rd. in Oxnard. If you’re currently enrolled in Medicare, you can change your Medicare health plan and prescription drug coverage during the open enrollment period for 2024. If you need help understanding Medicare changes and your healthcare insurance options, our Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) is here for you.
Please call 805-477-7300 or visit the Ventura County Human Services Area Agency on Aging website to schedule a free in-person, phone or virtual appointment with an unbiased HICAP counselor. You can also register to attend one of our upcoming Medicare changes presentations.

Attention Transitional Nutrition Benefit (TNB) Program Participants!
Your EBT food benefits must be renewed. The TNB recertification process will restart November 2023. Your recertification form will be sent to you between October 2023 and September 2024 depending on your renewal month.
You can apply any time for CalFresh benefits if there have been changes to your household or income. If you have any questions, please visit BenefitsCal.com or call 888-472-4463 to speak with a CalFresh worker.

The Low-Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) is a federally-funded program that offers one-time support to help low-income households pay past due or current residential water and sewer bills and keep their water on.

Are You an Older Adult Looking for a Roommate?
HomeShare is a program that matches home providers, primarily older adults, with home seekers willing to help with light chore work, meal preparation, transportation, companionship, or a combination of these in exchange for affordable housing.
The screening process includes an application, interview, inspection of the home provider’s property, background checks and follow-up.

Medi-Cal members: Be sure to check your mail for important Medi-Cal renewal information. If you’ve moved in the last three years, make sure to update your contact information.
Renewing Medi-Cal coverage is FREE and can be done by mail, phone, in person or online to avoid a gap in health coverage.
