I will serve joyfully, lead confidently, and inspire others through my faith in Jesus.

Greetings From Mr. Estes...

Dear SASEAS Families,

At mass this morning Fr Del spoke about our friendship with Jesus and the role it plays in our relationship with, and devotion to, God. As part of his homily Fr Del began by asking students the qualities or traits that they believed made someone a good friend. I am happy to report that they responded very well. As Fr Del said, they clearly understand what it means to be a good friend. He then went on to point out that Lent is a good time for us to work on our friendship with Jesus. Coincidentally, I just watched a video on Tuesday of our new Archbishop, Robert Casey, expressing his gratitude to Jesus and stating that he has been a friend of Jesus since he was a child. As I am writing this I am becoming mindful that these significant nudges usually come in threes for me; last night I attended a parish family event where several people spoke of the need for genuine friendship, especially with Jesus Christ. We begin Holy Week next week and I think my focus will be on strengthening my friendship with Jesus. I hope you’ll consider joining me.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome Archbishop Robert G. Casey to our archdiocese. Archbishop Casey took time on his first day in office, please see the photo included here, to speak with the principals of the archdiocese during an already scheduled virtual meeting; he entertained questions for about 15 mins as well. He mentioned that his staff suggested this photo and he agreed that it was a good idea. I enjoyed our virtual time with him and hope he can make time amidst what I am sure is an incredibly busy schedule to visit our school soon.

Following mass today our school community and guests, along with Fr. Del, celebrated our monthly character awards; thank you to the family members and guests who joined us. The Saint for March was Saint Joseph and the character trait being recognized was Joy. Congratulations to Abigail Algren, Jack DeNicola, Tiago Kassner, Ashleigh Danino, Olivia Hill, Braxton Gray, Alex Reeder, Genna Zielinski, Dale Monteith, and Derek Shaw. As we witnessed at the presentation of certificates, your joyfulness can be contagious, thank you for sharing.

As part of our school community Lenten journey together, the eighth grade students will present a shadows rendition of Stations of the Cross. Please join us next Wednesday, April 16, at 2:30 in the school cafeteria for a very moving and prayerful experience of Christ’s Passion.

Make it a great week!

Mrs. Sheila’s class is finishing their unit on ponds by completing their Pond-Life art project. They will wake up their hibernating bears this week and they are starting to talk about Easter. In religion they will learn about Jesus rising from the dead.

The four-year-old classes are focusing on Lent, Holy Week, and Easter. They are working on a Lenten Booklet which tells them the Easter Story.
