Well, June is here. This officially is the start of summer. This is the time of year that offshore fishing on humps, island tops, and reefs come into play in a big way. These fish have spawned and are headed back to deeper water or, at least, closer to deep water. This is the time of year to start targeting anything shady. Places like overhanging trees and dock fishing will be a big key as well. Popular ways to catch these fish will be worms rigged shaky head style, dropshotting, and Texas rigged. Jigs will be very popular, as well. This is a great time of year to always start with some topwater baits early and finish with late in the day. If you get a good overcast day, the topwater bite might last all day. A really popular summertime technique here in Texas is Carolina rigged baits. This isn’t limited to Texas waters. It works everywhere.
The bluegill are up and this is a great time to get the youngsters out on the water. Toss a bobber with a cricket or worms near any visible brush or structure and you’ll find bluegill. I’m not sure there’s anything that beats a kid getting excited as a bobber goes under on the run. This is known to excite a few adults as well. 😊
We’ve gotten some of our new products in as well. We have both casting and spinning reels. The casting come in both left- and right-hand models and several gear ratios. Both the casting and spinning come with several accent colors so guys can mix and match to their favorite rods. We have combos also in stock. These are great combos and none are on the low-end side. We’re adding a few things like water bottles and coffee mugs. We’ll soon have some really cool sun shirts in stock. We still have our original sun shirts but these are a different design and look really good.
The Josh Jones Crappie Sticks are in stock. These come in 10’, 11’, 12’, and 14’ models. These are all 2-piece rods. There’s an added hook keeper up the rod for storage. This was a Josh idea. It has the regular keeper down by the reel seat as well. The forward-facing sonar craze make these lengths a must for crappie fishing.
We have nearly all of our products in stock. We have a hole here or there but we’re in really good shape with inventory. If you don’t see what you need, call us at 903-919-8028.
It’s summertime so don’t forget the sunscreen and lip balms rated with sun protection. The sun shirts really help as well and a floppy straw hat is not a bad addition either.
Good luck fishing and, as always, we could use a special pic of your catch!! Tight lines!!!
