Our January 2022 Issue!
 Greetings!
Happy New Year, families!

As I look forward into the new year, I wonder what your child will learn about God in 2022 --and what they'll teach us as well!

I'm so grateful for your children-- and for dedicated Sunday school teachers who joyfully share these rich, sacred stories every week.

If you take a look at our Story Schedule here, and poke around the part of my website devoted to Godly Play, you'll find that at FBG we're very intentional in choosing the stories to share and how to share them. Our goal is to teach kids to listen for what God might be saying to them through scripture, to imagine how the stories relate to their own lives, and to develop a faith they can rely on as they grow.

There are so many wonderful activities offered to kids in our community!

In everything we do at First Baptist--through Sunday school, Missions, Choir, Discipleship Retreat (coming in April!) and even our monthly events and summer activities, we want to support your efforts in the faith formation of your children. They are your treasures, and they're our treasures too!

Wishing you a new year full of blessings!

See you at church!
Much Love, Becky

Our January Event: A Family Hike at Paris Mountain State Park
Let's Get Outside and Have Some Fun! :)
Sign up HERE!

Who? FBG Families and Friends (All kid hikers need to come with an adult.)

When? Sunday, January 31 2-3:30

How much does it cost? It's free! (Everyone covers their own entrance to the park.)
We're collecting Applesauce for United Ministries.

As always, I'll email all our registered families the Thursday before the event with all the details you'll need.
Hooray for Our Children's Choir!
You led us so beautifully! Thank you for sharing your voices with our congregation!
Art to Share
Enjoy the artwork from the last few covers of our Children's Order of Worship. Each week, children are invited to draw something about worship or God or their family at church as their ears are busy listening during worship.

I love sharing our children's art with the entire congregation on the boards in the Rotunda outside the Children's Hall. If your child would like to share, she/he is welcome to hand their art work to me after worship or put it in the mailbox outside my office door.

My goal is to share each child's work (if they want to share it) at some point during the year!
Kids Stay Free at Our Church Retreat!
We hope you're planning to come on our church retreat in the Terrace Hotel at Lake Junaluska this coming March 4-6! Author Philip Gulley is our retreat speaker and it'll be a great time together. And thanks to the Stogner gift, kids 12th grade and under go free! Register HERE.
Christmas Fun!
We had SO MUCH FUN at our Christmas party!
We made ornaments for homebound church friends, ate yummy food, drank hot cocoa, laughed A LOT with some hilarious games, played Bingo, and brought home cookies to decorate because we ran out of time!

Many thanks to all our terrific helpers!
Thanks to Brooke and Hannah and Jennifer for setting up! Thanks Laura, Anna, Jenny and Sarah for contributing lunch, hot chocolate, and cookies! And thanks to all our chaperones! Thank you Angie, Carrie, Brooke, Jennifer, Jenny, Erin, Cherington, and Janna!
Please Share the Load in Protecting Our Children
We're asking all of our dads and moms and guardians to get certified in Protecting Our Children in order to safely share the load in chaperoning activities for our kids.

POC certification is required to volunteer in any way with children at church, from bringing snacks to the Gathering Room on Sundays to chaperoning events like our Movie and Pizza Night or our trip to Denver Downs.

POC requires turning in some paperwork to be used for a background check, watching three short videos and completing the accompanying quizzes.

It takes about three weeks once the paperwork is submitted to get the background checks finished, and POC certification is good for three years.

You can find the POC application (paperwork) here. It can be turned into Juli Morrow at juli.morrow@firstbaptistgreenville.com

Any questions? Contact Becky Ramsey or Juli Morrow.
Thank you for helping to keep our children safe at church!
