Churches, we all know this is a real need for college students in our diocese, we also know a lot of college students do not have a lot of money at their disposal. If you feel called to sponsor a college student (or two) please contact Charlotte Garcia at youth@diocesewnc.org.

St. James Pitches in on Habitat Blitz Build

Fifteen members of St. James, Hendersonville converged on Dobb Meadows in Flat Rock for a Blitz Build on Oct. 18. Father David Henson led prayers before the group set off to raise the walls, nailed top plates, built rafters and trusses, and transformed a concrete slab into a home. Along the way, the participants left loving prayers written on the studs.

Resources for the Conflict in the Holy Land

The Office of Government Relations in The Episcopal Church has released a webpage of resources to follow the conflict in Gaza, Palestine, and Israel. The page includes ways to take action to support the citizens affected by the conflict, statements from leaders, partner resources, prayers, social media, and a list of press releases. The page is being updated as the situation develops.

Coming Soon: The Boojum’s Wire

The Boojum’s Wire is a new monthly newsletter created by and for the alumni of Camp Henry. As all alumni of Camp Henry know, camp is a sacred place—one which is not tied to the physical location of camp but rather holds an unbreakable bond with the people that make up Camp Henry. We experience extraordinary growth and are surrounded by unconditional love while a part of camp, whether that be as campers, CIT’s/LAMPers, staff members, nurses, and chaplains, but we tend to experience a great sense of loss when our time at the physical Camp Henry is over. This newsletter aims to hold onto that sense of community and bring us back together again to experience Camp Henry even after we have sailed forth.

This newsletter is a curated collection of stories, art, photographs, reflections, and so much more from Camp Henry alumni. In participating in and sharing this newsletter, you are keeping the love and community of camp alive past the memories of camp. More information on how and what to submit to The Wire is available on Camp Henry’s social media and questions can be directed to theboojumswiresubmissions@gmail.com. You can subscribe to The Boojum’s Wire on Substack and get the newsletter directly to your email!

Beyond Our Doors

Presiding Bishop Calls for an End to Violence in Gaza

Presiding Bishop Michael Curry issued a statement on Nov. 7 decrying the reported killing of 10,000 Palestinians in Gaza so far by the Israeli military in response to Hamas’ massacre of Israelis a month ago. Curry called for an end to all killing in the region while acknowledging the conflict’s complexities. Curry’s statement marks his most direct comments yet on the intensifying conflict.

It's All About Love Festival Continues on Zoom

Join the Episcopal Church to continue the good conversations that began during summer's "It's All About Love" festival in Baltimore with monthly workshops featuring festival presenters and Q&A. Workshops are the second Thursday of each month at 3 p.m. ET. The Nov. 9 workshop will feature Lilly Lewin discussing 'Creating Prayer Stations and Curating Worship Experiences.' This workshop will go beyond listening to be an introduction to experiential worship.
