Good evening GRES Families,

This short week sure went by fast! We completed our second evacuation drill in conjunction with the Kendall County Fire Marshall and are proud to report everyone safely evacuated the building in under 2 minutes. Next week is National School Bus Safety Week. Please see the information below for safety tips to discuss as a family.

GRES Picture Day is Monday, 10/18/21. The forms have already been sent home, but in the event you need an extra, please click the link above.

Next week, we will be practicing the Run and Hide portions of our Run/Hide/Fight drill so that our students can be prepared. An email message went out earlier this week with more details.

On Friday, we are also having the Fox Trot; see below for more information. We have not recieved t-shirt sizes for all students, a follow-up email has been sent to those families who have not submitted sizes for their child(ren). We will do our best to get the closest sizes for any late submissions.

Stay tuned for the time of the Halloween Parade on Friday, 10/29. As students begin discussing costumes, please ensure that student faces are visible, there is no face paint, and no blood/gore.

Our Little Caesar's Fundraiser is running until 11/3. It's an easy way to help contribute to the PTO and almost no leg work for you as all kits are delivered to people's homes.

Here is the link for Parent/Teacher Conferences which will be held on 11/11 and 11/12. When you click the link to sign up, you can choose whether to participate in-person or via Zoom. If applicable, a Zoom link will be sent by the classroom teacher as the date gets closer.

Veteran's Day is quickly approaching. Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime. We are planning a virtual celebration and would love to feature your favorite veterans. Please email any pictures and military information (name, rank, branch of the military, years of service, awards/recognitions, and affiliated student name and relationship) to Mrs. Melvin at [email protected] by Friday, 11/5.

Please submit a SHOUT OUT (see below) for a staff member you have noticed going above and beyond!

We appreciate any feedback you wish to provide as we believe we are a team working towards the same goal! :)

Sincerely,
Michele Breyne
GRES Principal
Meet & Greet
Hello! My name is Brianne Ramirez and I am very excited to be joining the 1st grade team! This is my first year in the Yorkville School District and I am so thrilled to be joining GRES! I previously taught 1st and 2nd grade for nine years in the West Aurora School District and then decided to spend a few years at home with my two children. My passion for teaching always has come from my childhood teachers. I have always loved to see the passion that students have and the light that comes into their eyes when they learn something new.

My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family. My two children are currently in 3rd grade and 1st grade. They love to play sports, and we are always busy watching one of their sporting events.

I am very excited to be a part of the Grande Reserve team. I look forward to working with many new families and can’t wait for a great school year!

Hi, my name is Jen Lunn. I grew up in Oswego and have lived in Yorkville for the last 31 years with my husband Bob. My own children, Mandie and Drew both went through Yorkville schools.

Although I am new to Grande Reserve, I am an old fox. I started working for the Yorkville School District in 1999 at Yorkville High School. Two years quickly passed and I transferred to Yorkville Intermediate School. After 16 years, I decided I would like to work with our youngest learners and went into the EC program at Bristol Grade School. After three years at BGS, I was given the opportunity to come to GRES. GRES is an amazing place and I hope to be here for many years to come!
Arrival & Dismissal
In an effort to not block (and back-up) traffic exiting the parking lot, all cars should be turning right into the parking lot for morning dropoff.

Please be kind to one another during pick-up and drop-off. We talk to our students about showing kindness to others whether we agree with them or not; let's be great role models for our children. :)
PTO Information
The FOX TROT is baaaaaaack! :) Students will be running on Friday, 10/22 during PE; donations that will be considered for prizes are due 10/20/21. Parents are welcome to watch students from the blacktop path indicated in the image shown during their scheduled PE time. The classroom teachers will communicate this time as some adjustments had to be made. Stay tuned for the class newsletters. Parents will not have access to the buidling and are expected to maintain appropriate social distancing.
We also have a Little Caesars fundraiser funning until 11/3/21:

It’s pizza time! Until 11/3/21, we’re selling Pizza Kits to raise money so we can provide our students with additional resources throughout our school. To reach our goal and be successful, we need everyone’s help. It’s super easy to join the fun!

To get started follow this link:
https://fundraising.littlecaesars.com/login/join-fundraiser/ceace7a3-0f6a-45ef-bff3-809f1dad4c06  to create your very own Seller page. You can customize your page, upload a video, create an avatar, and watch how many pizza kits you’ve sold. You’ll get your own special link to send to your friends and family so they can buy delicious pizza kits and support our fundraiser. Pizza Kits will be delivered directly to their home by FedEx, so send the link to your out of state family and friends, too. You can even post your seller link on your social media pages.

Every kit we sell earns $6 profit and makes an impact. Our top seller will receive a $50 gift card to Amazon!! Don’t forget to buy some for yourself!
SHOUT OUTS!!!
We would like to continue celebrating and awarding shout outs to any GRES Staff nominated!!! Stay tuned for updates on social media.
