Year to Date 2025 Hotel Performance

The state had a 1 percentage point decrease in occupancy and a 2% increase in ADR resulting in an 1% increase in RevPAR compared to the first two months of 2024. RevPAR was up 12% on Hawaii Island, up 6% on Kauai, down 1% on Oahu and up 4% on Maui. Room revenue on Maui is 16% below 2023.


February 2025 Hotel Performance

The state had a 0.3 percentage point decrease in occupancy and a 2.0 % decrease in ADR resulting in an 1.7% increase in RevPAR compared to last February. RevPAR was up 13% on Hawaii Island, up 5% on Kauai, down 2% on Oahu and up 2% on Maui.

Visitor Arrivals

The state saw a 2% decrease in visitors in February 2025 over last February. Oahu was down 5%, Kauai and Hawaii Island were both down 3%. Maui is up relative to last year but down 12% from pre-pandemic. Japanese arrivals were down 13% from last February.

Visitor Expenditures

Visitor expenditures were up 4% and per person per day spending was up 6%. This was driven by a big increase in Maui spending relative to a poor post-wildfire February last year. The cost to get to and stay in Hawaii keeps increasing.

Air Seats

The outlook for air seats for the March to May 2025 period is up 1% overall compared to the same period last year. Domestic seats are up 3% while international seats are down 6%. Japan is down 10%. The slow, steady return of Japanese visitors has ended and we've recently seen a steady drop.
