E-Vision

September 7, 2022

Dear Friends,

We have all misplaced things from time to time. While frustrating, losing small things typically won’t have eternal consequences. For the lost soul, on the other hand, an eternity without God is the worst condition imaginable — and the biggest reason we should always go after the one. We’ll think more about lost things this weekend when Steven brings his message, Who Are the Lost, Exactly?

We hope you will connect with a small group this week at FBC! Let us know how we can be praying for you!

We have more important business to discuss in the upcoming called Church Conference on September 11. For more information on the items we will be discussing, please read the conference packet linked below.

Conference Packet

We would love to have FBC come out to support Amani Sasa at their Anniversary Celebration on September 11! Steven Norris will be playing trombone and Native American flute for the event.

Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia Gets a New Moderator!

At the upcoming CBF Georgia General Assembly, our very own Steven Norris will be "installed" as the new moderator for CBFGA, effective January 2023. This position is the highest elected role in the organization, and we are excited to see Steven represent our church in it! If you are available November 6-7 to travel to FBC Augusta, we would love to have you join us in support of Steven! The cost for the gathering is $40 (to cover meals), and individuals would need to secure their own hotel room. This cost could be minimal if people room together. If you would be interested in attending this event, please register for it using the link below. Contact us for more information, or to let us know you are going and would like to know if anyone is available to room with you.

Children's Ministry
(Birth-5th Grade)

The Count Down has begun!

It's only ONE more Sunday before Lori Welborn joins our staff! Speaking of Lori...she has asked us to make this survey (see the purple-ish button below) available to our families with children. Please set aside about 10 to 15 minutes to answer these questions about you and your child(ren) so Lori knows more about your family and can be thinking about the needs of our Children's Ministry specifically.

Children's Ministry Survey

Music and Missions meets tonight!

Babies through threes can meet in the Nursery room on the Weekday Education hall.

Pre-K through K5 meet Mrs. Jenny, Mrs. Rachel, and Mr. Les on the Weekday Education hall.

Grades 1-5 meet Mrs. Leslie, Ms. Mamre, and Mr. Franklin on the second floor of the Education Building.

Parents, please pick your elementary kids up in the gym at 7:00 p.m.

Parents and Guardians:

During missions lessons, children often get to sample foods that would be typical of cultures we are studying. We would like to ask families to share emergency contact information and any food or environmental allergies that would pose a challenge to their children during these lessons. If you have not already completed the form below (online or in print), then please fill one our for each child you bring to church so our leaders can be better prepared to address needs your children may have.

Missions Update

Mission Georgia Emphasis Month encourages our prayers and our giving in order to bring transformation and hope to the many issues that are evident throughout our state.

  1. One of the areas of emphasis is human trafficking. It is happening in every county in Georgia. The Tiny Home Build Project, sponsored by Mission Georgia, provides homes for the victims of this abuse so that they may begin new lives of redemption.
  2. A second area of interest is foster care. Many children arrive at a foster care home with only the clothes on their backs. Mission Georgia works with Called to Care, a support group which supports and provides needed assistance to foster children and their foster parents.

Both Mission Georgia and GA CBS seek to address issues within our own state, our own mission challenge.

Christian Literature Recycling

Women on Mission (WOM) will be collecting Christian literature you would like to recycle over the next few weeks. Please drop the material off in the designated receptacle in either Welcome Center at church. This material gets delivered to those who do not have ready access to Christian literature.

First Baptist Griffin supports LifeSong Ministries, Inc., which is a program that provides free classes to women who lack resources, yet desire to improve their life situation, job skills, and education. If you know a woman who would benefit from such classes, please ask them to contact LifeSong Ministries at 404-980-5549. A new class will form soon and spots are limited.

Other News & Events Around the Church

Happy Work-aversary, Doochie!

Our friend, Doochie Pass has been running circles around all of us here at FBC since September 7, 2007.

Dear First Baptist Church,

Your expressions of love, care, and cancer during Marian’s illness are greatly appreciated. We are grateful for the deli tray and trimmings delivered after Marian’s passing. We have been blessed with a long relationship with First Baptist.
