Free internet safety course

Learn to navigate the digital world safely with Internet Street Smarts


This free course provided by Tree House in collaboration with Cyber Collective is designed for learners of all technical backgrounds to educate themselves about how websites and social media companies collect and use their information as well as educate learners about common email and text scams and how to stay safe online.



How You Can Help the Library

Recycle your aluminum drink cans in the trailer in the library's Cherry St. parking lot, out our back door. Proceeds support summer programming!

Donate gently used or like new books, magazines, DVDs, music CDs, and puzzles.

Buying from our used book sale supports summer programming.

Are you an adult wanting to help the library, but you're not sure how? Fill out the interest form for the Friends of the Yadkin County Public Library, and you can be part of the inaugural group to get our local group reactivated!

  • Adult options: candles, drink coasters, soap, key chains, tiny flashlights, pens, and other small objects.
  • Child options: coloring books, puzzles, trading cards, new stuffed animals, and other small hand-held toys.

Adults

  • True Crime Fans - last Monday (April 28) at 4:00pm. Join our Facebook group!
  • Silent Book Club - 3rd Thursday (April 17), 5-6:30pm. Join our Facebook group and here are the themes for upcoming months!
  • April's theme: Mystery.
  • Cozy on Up in NC Cardinal - virtual book club (cozy mystery focus) via Amazon Book Clubs and Goodreads.
  • (April 7) Medicare 101 from 10-11am with Heather Poindexter.
  • NC Works from 9am-noon, on 2nd and 4th Friday's

Children

  • StoryWalks at Yadkin County Park (focus: picture books) and WIC Community Garden (focus: bilingual boardbooks)
  • For April, Yadkin County Park StoryWalk has a special book from this year's NC SciFest: Your Place in the Universe.
  • Kaleidoscope Play and Learn (ages 0-5), Tuesdays at 10am. This program is provided by Smart Start of Yadkin County.
  • April 15 & 29th are cancelled.
  • April 22 will be held at the Boonville Community Public Library.
  • STEAM & Stories (ages 0-5) has free play with STEM toys and STEM stories. This is the first Thursday of each month at 10am.
  • Preschool Storytime (ages 2-5) is on Thursdays at 10am (other than the first week of the month). Join us for stories, songs, crafts, and play time!

  • April 24th we remain at the library instead of doing a field trip.

Astronomy Adventure and Stargazing at Memorial Park


Saturday, April 5 7:00pm - 11:00pm


  • STEM space-themed activities from 7pm until sunset.
  • Telescope observation from sunset to 11pm.

If the library has to cancel (or move inside the library) the STEM activities due to heavy rain or severe weather, we will post on Facebook (click here).


If the Forsyth Astronomical Society is unable to see the night sky due to clouds/rain, they will cancel their portion by posting on their website. (click here)

Writers Road Show


Don’t miss author Dale Neal, along with Susan Zurenda, during the 2nd annual NWRL Writers Road Show! Dale Neal will be speaking about his books The Woman with the Stone Knife and Kings of Coweetsee.

On Thursday, April 10, Dale will be holding a Book Talk at Sanders Ridge Vineyard & Winery in Boonville from 5 to 7 p.m. Those who pre-register will be entered to win a signed copy of his book (form is here).
