The Vestry meet for its annual retreat this past weekend and amidst a lot of good fellowship with returning and the newly elected members, we set out our firm belief in our approach to stewardship and also took a significant step for the Church’s future. A priority to year-round stewardship keeps us focused on our responsibility to share our God given gifts, not just during an annual mid-autumn fund raising effort, but throughout our life in the church. The Vestry adopted a theology-rooted stewardship statement, reflecting the importance of us giving as we best can to the benefit of our church.
The Vestry adopted a recommended plan from the Buildings and Grounds Committee to provide space within the Nave for handicap seating. Space for wheelchairs within the pew array will be available about halfway up on the pulpit side of the Nave and will be in place starting with this Sunday’s services. A related benefit will be correctly spaced and re-aligned pews so they are symmetrical in the Nave and will allow for better seating and access around the baptismal font. Including handicapped, wheelchair-bound worshipers in our midst re-confirms we are all one body in our worship together.
Most excitedly, the Vestry voted to proceed with a search for an associate rector. A campaign for funds specific to a compensation package has been very well received and has allowed the Finance Committee and the Vestry to be comfortable taking the step to add an additional clergy member to our church family. I, and I believe I speak for Fr. Biddy and the Vestry, continue to be humbled by and grateful for the generosity of spirit in our parish family. Thanks to these gifts a search can start soon, with a hope of a hire in 2023.
Finally, as it was the last Vestry meeting of the term (Easter Monday starts the new term), we gave thanks for the time and talent of three retiring Vestry members: Barbara Coleman, Laura Robertson and Nick Uros, and of the retiring Junior Warden, Catherine Boardman. Our church is better because of your gifts and thanks you for a job well done, good and faithful servants.

Take Home a Perennial Flower from the Saint Paul's Garden this Sunday.
|
Diversify your green space with a clipping from the Saint Paul’s Garden! The Creation Care Committee and the Gardening Group are making greenery available for parishioners to take home and plant in their gardens or yards. All clippings will be pre-planted in peat pots, so it’s easy to replant them in the ground. See us following the 11 AM service on the portico! Limit one per family, while supplies last. Here's' a listing of this week's perennial flowers.
Clippings will be available each Sunday through April 16 (on Easter, available after the Celtic service) in honor of Earth Day. Plant clippings are beneficial to the environment as they reduce overcrowding around the parent plant; they also produce plants identical in quality to the parent.
