EYMF Youth Group next Wednesday!

Ecumenical Youth Ministry Fellowship

Calling all Youth ages 6-12 grade! We have some exciting events coming up with our Youth Group friends from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, Trinity Episcopal Church & Excelsior United Methodist Church.

We are planning a dinner, coffeehouse and bake sale on April 22nd to help raise money to see The Prom at Chanhassen Dinner Theatre on May 19th. We will be creating small music groups to play at the event and baking goods at Youth Group the Wednesday prior for the bake sale. Please contact Anna Brock with any questions.

NEXT WEDNESDAY March 22nd - youth group will meet 6:30-8:30pm at Trinity in Excelsior. We'll have a taco bar for dinner, a short camp style worship, and have time to play get-to-know-you games, as well as break into groups to start planning the bake sale and putting together music groups for the coffeehouse. Don't know if you can make all the dates below? That's okay! We still want you to come and join in where you can. This is a great way to make new friends, and get to know more of our siblings in Christ, learning about what it means to be the church outside of St. David's.

ST. DAVID'S FOLKS OF ALL AGES are invited to the April 22nd dinner, coffeehouse, and bake sale at Mount Calvary in Excelsior. This is a great chance to make new connections and support our youth, as well as engage in this new ecumenical collaboration.

Maundy Thursday Agape Meal

Calling all cooks! We are in need of 7 generous cooks willing to make up just one crockpot full of soup ( feeding 10ish or so) for our upcoming Agape Meal during Holy Week. As you may recall from last year's inaugural event, this meal is the foundation of a very special Maundy Thursday gathering in the undercroft. This time together includes a simple meal, a service of Holy Eucharist, and foot washing for those who wish to partake.

Please click on the link below to sign up to bring your favorite soup, one that you enjoy both eating and making. We ask that at least a couple of the soups be vegetarian. Please bring your soup ready to go in a crockpot by between 5:30-5:45pm on Maundy Thursday, April 6th.

Thanks in advance for helping to make this a holiest of holy days.

St. David’s is seeking a part-time Sexton

We are looking for someone willing to work 17-20 hours a week taking care of our building, arranging furniture as needed for services and programs.  A position description that lists responsibilities and expectations can be found on the home page of our website at:  www.stdavidsparish.org  or by contacting us at staffing@stdavidsparish.org

ICA Update

When donating to ICA during the MN FoodShare March Campaign, you are not only supporting ICA’s expanded programming, but also playing a big role in growing its purchasing power. Just like your family, it is costing ICA much more to buy fruits, vegetables and other essentials. A financial donation to ICA ensures the food shelves can be kept well-stocked, while food donations help bring in immediate supplies.  You can learn more and donate by visiting www.icafoodshelf.org/march-campaign.   Thank you in advance.

A note received from a neighbor who has benefited from ICA’s services: “Thank you to all the people who donate and volunteer at ICA! You made it possible for me to receive food and assistance at a time when I lost my job.”

Book Club Update

The St. David’s Book Club met on February 7 to discuss Love is the Way by Bishop Michael Curry.  This was an easy read and I encourage everyone to read this book.  Bishop Curry’s writing style is so approachable and he uses examples from his own life to share more about himself and, more importantly, how Love is the Way to a fulfilling life.

Our upcoming selection to be discussed in April is The Good Earth

It is a historical fiction novel by Pearl S. Buck published in 1931 that dramatizes family life in a Chinese village in the early 20th century. It was the best-selling novel in the United States in both 1931 and 1932, won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1932, and was influential in Buck's winning the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1938. Buck, who grew up in China as the daughter of American missionaries, wrote the book while living in China and drew on her first-hand observation of Chinese village life.  ~Wikipedia
