Trusting Jesus, even in Loss
“Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the
interests of others. The Humbled and Exalted Christ, let this mind be in you
which was also in Christ Jesus.” Phil. 2:4-5

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful and ever blessing the children and families through this ministry. We are privileged to have you all as a part of it. Schools have slowly begun opening for higher education and upper grades of primary and secondary school. So, we are also beginning to open slowly at our Genesis Primary School and look forward to adding grades, as allowed, at the beginning of April.

We see God working in the lives of so many of our sponsored children and those who have graduated. Edigar is one of our children coming from difficult circumstances, enduring much as a young boy. He is an only child of parents who died of AIDS when Edigar was only 2 years old. He was raised by his grandmother until she passed away in 2012 and then lived with his aunt and his older cousin. Both were infected by the AIDS virus. His cousin was supported by Hines Ugandan Ministries and lost his battle with AIDS 4 years ago and now, Edigar’s aunt has also passed.

Though his life has been difficult, and he has suffered much loss, Edigar is a happy young man, thankful to God for His provision. He is quiet and humble and enjoys helping at AWANA club and HUM’s Saturday community feeding ministry.

Now, at age 22, Edigar is a thriving young man, working hard to accomplish an independent and successful future. He is studying to become an electrician and during the long months of Covid-19, as restrictions lightened, he sought out work experience with a local electrician while he awaited the reopening of school. He used his income to help support his aunt while he was living there and bought himself a second-hand bicycle to ride to work.

Edigar knows that he will really be on his own one day and we are seeking an appropriate place for him to live now when he returns to the village on school breaks. He has been very resourceful, and we ask for your prayers for Edigar as he seeks God’s direction in his life and becomes a Godly leader in his country, a dream that we have for all of our sponsored children.

Sponsors needed

Thank you to all who gave to help with masks and sanitizer as well as renovations for Katherine’s kitchen, primarily cabinets. Both of these projects have been fully funded. We have some kids who have lost sponsors in the last year that we are hoping to get fully funded. Please consider one of the following or there are more on our website.
10 yr. old Shamira’s parents are uneducated and her father works odd jobs for other villagers to feed the family of 7 the best he can. Her mother suffers from mental illness.

Shamira recently lost one of two partial sponsors and we are seeking someone special to help this little girl. Need: $30/mo.

Umaru and his siblings were abandoned to their impoverished and sickly grandmother when Umaru was very young. When she passed away the children moved to an aunt's home.

When Umaru was sponsored he was sent to a Christian boarding school to better meet his educational, nutritional and spiritual needs. Changing life circumstances made it difficult for Umaru’s sponsor to continue the fees and she is praying for someone to continue Umaru’s sponsorship of $60/mo.

Hamima’s mother and her two children were abandoned by their Muslim father when their mother chose to follow Jesus. Their mother lost a job with a living wage more than a year ago and has struggled to secure new quality employment. The children are staying at Katherine’s while their mother finds work and will continue sponsorship when they return. Hamima is partially sponsored and in need of a second sponsor of $30/mo.

Calling all prayer warriors!
 *  Please pray for the children and youth as they begin returning to school with all the changes and catching up to do. Pray for those who go to boarding schools to remain strong in Jesus while pursuing their academics and social connections and all the things that kids do. Pray for our own Genesis Primary School as it adapts to new guidelines and works to creatively help students return to learning.

 *  Pray for some of our sponsored youth who have struggled through quarantine, some making poor choices, that they would turn to Jesus for renewal in their hearts and lives.  Pray for our staff to know how to best support them.

 *  Pray for us as we seek creative ways to share Jesus with the many children that have normally attended AWANA clubs and our Saturday feeding program, as these are large gatherings that we cannot yet have. We are happy that we have been able to meet basic needs and educational opportunities are returning, but we ultimately want them to have a meaningful relationship with the Lord Jesus.
