Celebrating the holidays with Morris Park families on December 9, 2022

Smiles on the faces of #MorrisPark children and families! We are so grateful to all residents coming to visit with Santa Clause and the Grinch today on #MorrisPark Avenue! Thank you all Special thanks to the elected officials that joined us Councilwoman Velázquez co-hosting (thanks for the special Christmas tree gift ), and Assemblywoman Fernandez ! Even if the trolley didn’t get to us (so sorry!), 100 families left with Ginger Bread House Kits to enjoy decorating together! We loved everyone’s smiles and positive energy that warmed our spirits and filled our hearts with gratitude for the #MorrisPark community, and for your support for our local businesses!


Opening Nasdaq to celebrate New York's small businesses

#MorrisPark businesses were represented at the Times Square Nasdaq Opening Bell on November 25 starting the holiday shopping season with Black Friday and Small Business Saturday - with the NYC Mayor's Office Mayor Eric Adams and NYC Department of Small Business Services. MPBID is thankful for the #MorrisPark community shopping local and supporting our local Bronx businesses.

Funding approved for feasibility study to "Cap the Cross Bronx Expressway"


This work was initiated by our partners at @lovingthebronx @nilkamartell - with the support ofmany other grassroots and educational community partners! We are proud, and grateful for the opportunity to support this innovative project that will save lives! Thank you Nilka for all you do for the #Bronx!

NYC Department of Small Business Services, Neighborhood Development and Capacity building teams visit Morris Park Avenue

Thank you to the NYC Department of Small Business Services neighborhood development and capacity building teams visiting on December 2, 2022 the #MorrisPark Avenue! We appreciated the support and the opportunity to showcase amazing #Bronx local businesses @azal.llc701 @contis_pastry_shoppe @vannesthardware @lacasadelcaffenyc - thanks to all community members that #shoplocal during the holiday season!

Albanian Independence Day observed on Morris Park Avenue

Flags honoring Albania Independence Day - a beautiful #MorrisPark Avenue tradition honoring the role of the Albanian community in the Bronx, and celebrating the diversity of our community! Thanks to former NYC Councilman @markgjonajny for the Albanian flags that decorated #MorrisPark Avenue in the end of November.

Metro North Expansion to East Bronx, including a Morris Park train station in 2027 and forthcoming rezonings

Morris Park was recognized by Mayor Eric Adams and @nycplanning for the neighborhood's key contribution to the #Bronx “With 12% of the borough’s jobs, #MorrisPark is the Bronx’s largest employment center, and 23,000 jobs located within 1⁄2 mile of the coming Morris Park station.” 10,000 new jobs & a much needed #MorrisPark Plaza, in relation to the East Bronx Metro North expansion of 4 stations including Morris Park ”The plan would also allow for new open space amenities, including creation of a large & welcoming public plaza & pedestrian bridge spanning Bassett Ave to connect #MorrisPark station & plaza.” 46 blocks subjected to zoning action: “The actions would allow existing job-generating uses, including retail, restaurants, grocery stores, health care and life sciences, and community facility space, to grow significantly, especially in #MorrisPark.”
