Our mission is to Maintain and Strengthen the city's Diversity, Equity, And Accountability.

Hello Nicole,

Everyday our leaders are making decisions that not only impact the moment, but the future for generations to come. From the recent SCOTUS decisions on affirmative action and student loan debt, to immigration, choice and more, we know how rulings and legislation have a direct impact on how our country moves forward. Today, nearly 40% of Los Angeles City is made up of young people. Our youth are the generation who will be the most impacted by the outcomes of those decisions and we know that when we invest in our youth through services and opportunities, we are investing in our future.

Here at LA Civil Rights, our team is dedicated to fighting for and lifting up our young Angelenos. Through our Equity and Empowerment unit, we have and continue to create innovative initiatives, like our Upward Mobility Programming. We also work with our partners in the community to develop pipelines for youth and those in underserved communities to flourish. Our LA REPAIR Team has completed their work with the first cohort of Participatory Budgeting and is soon to launch a second, which is yet another exciting way to get young people involved in the process of improving their communities and staying civically engaged. Additionally, we will continue to uplift our justice work through our partners in LA City’s new Youth Development Department, whose focus and goals will help us maintain a more equitable Los Angeles.

The future of our communities depends on how we treat and build up the young people who are hitting the streets, getting involved, and demanding change now. Those are the minds we must cultivate and share space with to ensure we leave a Los Angeles with leaders who will be more inclusive, more just, and ready to fight every day for you and me.

I look forward to lacing up my shoes and marching right beside all of our youth as we continue to fight injustices and do the work of building a city that is truly for all

Keep the faith and keep the fight,

- Capri Maddox

LA Civil Rights at LA Youth Expo

LA Civil Rights had so much fun at The Youth Expo at the Expo Center in South Los Angeles last Saturday! We were there to celebrate the young leaders of today and also to help future leaders with resources, networking opportunities, and collaborative programs.

Community Outreach and Engagement is one of LA Civil Rights' four pillars. Being out in the community allows us to speak, listen, and collaborate with current and future leaders who are making Los Angeles a better, safer city. LA Civil Rights continues to be present throughout Los Angeles, and we hope to meet you at one of our engagement events because together, as a community, we can obtain equity and inclusion for all.
