“The Hails take the blueprint and run with it, with the keyboard line humming along and each hook landing with the utmost conviction.”

“It’s a fun ride, simultaneously feeling like a new direction for the group and an obvious next step for the Miami boys.”

Placing haunting vocals and isolated keys at the forefront, The Hails today release the stripped version of their single “Exonerate.” A transformation of a once confident groove, the somber rework takes the meaning of this song to a much more introspective and delicate place. The ability to take a once-upbeat and swaggering confidence and translate it into an aching sense of melancholy, once again proves the musical prowess of The Hails – Stream.

When the original version of “Exonerate” was released in late October, listeners were quickly magnetized by the band’s new era. A flood of editorial praise came from Billboard, Consequence, EARMILK, Riff Magazine and many others excited by the direction the Miami five-piece is headed in. The same weekend as the single’s release, The Hails took it to the stage of the III Points Festival, winning the crowd’s energy over with a track that had only been out for 24 hours at that point.

On New Year’s Eve, The Hails will be joined by Magic City Hippies and Cannibal Kids for a show at the Miami Beach Bandshell – a power lineup of some of the foremost bands from the state of Florida. Recently, the band also released a live session with Jam In The Van from their California tour run earlier this year. Early 2023 will see a stacked schedule of releases from The Hails and more announcements to come.

ABOUT THE HAILS

Following a string of encounters too strange to be coincidence, Robbie Kingsley, Franco Solari, Dylan McCue, Andre Escobar and Zach Levy came together to form The Hails. Despite first playing in an insular Miami high school music scene, the band officially formed at the University of Florida in Gainesville, turning the tattered carpeting and beer bottle lined shelves of their shitty college house into a distinct, refined sound that is now synonymous with their name.

After graduation, the group made the pilgrimage back to their home of Miami, the city that directly influenced the sound of their early shimmering singles “Younger” and “Stay,” debut EP He Seems Upset (2020), and the subsequent Alive in Strange Ways (2021). Receiving praise from the likes of Ones To Watch, American Songwriter, Lyrical Lemonade, Atwood Magazine and others, The Hails went on to hold court at festivals including WonderStruck, Okeechobee and Playground, interspersed between sold-out shows across the state of Florida. The first half of 2022 also saw The Hails join WILLIS for West and East Coast dates.

Firing the starting pistol of their next chapter, The Hails released “Exonerate” right on time for their performance at Miami’s III Points in October 2022. The single is the first in a string of releases that consist of both tour-worn fan favorites and new strokes of inspiration, and was met with praise from Billboard, Consequence, EARMILK and more.
