Wits Workout
Tuesdays in April
Join us in the program room every Tuesday morning in April from 10:30am to 12:00pm for fun memory exercises designed to drill the brain to maintain and enhance cognitive function and memory.
Based on the research that intellectual challenge and social connectedness are two of several factors that contribute to brain health throughout life, Wits Workout has two main goals—to provide purposeful opportunities for older adults to engage intellectually, and to increase their socialization through ongoing group participation.
REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR EACH CLASS

IL Libraries Present- The Art of foraging with Alexis Nikole Nelson
Thursday, April 10th at 7:00pm
Alexis Nikole Nelson is a forager and an outdoor educator using her platforms, TikTok account alexisnikole and Instagram page blackforager, to celebrate all the edible plants hiding in plain sight. She peels back historical layers on African American and Indigenous food traditions that have traditionally been repressed and empowers those living in food deserts with greater self- sufficiency.
Nelson received the James Beard Award for “Best Social Media” 2022, was chosen for the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and as a TikTok Tastemaker, and was honored as part of Fortune Magazine’s Creator 25 in 2021. Nelson gave a TED Talk in 2022 and in 2023 joined the YouTube channel Crash Course to host a 15-episode botany series.
Alexis Nikole Nelson will be joined in conversation with Natalie Evans, a wild edible foods instructor.

Agatha Christie
Thursday, April 24th at 6pm
Join us for a one woman show by Historical Women of Letters.
In the Spring of 1950, Agatha Christie accompanied her husband, archeologist Max Mallowan to Iran and the tells of Kalhu; the ancient city also known as Nimrud. Join Agatha Christie in Beit Agatha as she reminisces with you about her childhood, her life as a writer and adventurer, and contemplates beginning her autobiography- a project that took nearly 20 years.

Super Saturday: Paint a Mini Birdhouse
Saturday, April 19th from 10-11am
Join us in the program room for an hour to paint a premade mini wooden birdhouse.

Early Out Hangout
Wednesday, April 2nd from 1:30pm to 3:30pm
On days when Monticello CUSD #25 has a scheduled early dismissal our program room will be open from 1:30-3:30pm for kids to drop in for a few hours of games.
Recommended for grades K-12.

Kids Storytelling
Mondays in April from 4-4:45pm
Join us in the program room with local storyteller Kim Sheahan Sanford on Mondays starting at 4pm in April. Each week we will be regaled with tales from around the world, about animals, and even a fairy tale or two.

Lap Time
Lap Time will take place Wednesday April 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th starting at 9:30am. Lap Time is filled with fingerplay, books, and songs.

Story time will take place Thursday April 3rd, 10th, 17th and 24th starting at 10:00am. Story time is filled with books, songs, instruments, and play.

Tween and Teen Dungeons & Dragons

Join us for an adventure based on Strixhaven: Curriculum of Chaos.
For grades 6th-12th (ages 11-18).
All experience levels are welcome. Registration is now required.
Only 10 spots available for this program.
Blank Character sheets will be available at the circulation desk. Character sheets must be completed before the game starts on Tuesday, April 15th.
