The RIVERS ALIVE! Barrington Park / Altamaha River Cleanup was a HUGE SUCCESS! (Oct. 21)

Perfect Day for Paddling! RIVERS ALIVE Annual Water Cleanup was a huge success! Our concentration this year was Barrington Park / Altamaha River. THANK YOU to our partner Fort King George State Historic Site and awesome Ranger Michael Putnam! He brought canoes & paddles, life jackets, and made sure everyone stayed safe.

Rivers Alive is Georgia's annual volunteer waterway cleanup event that targets all waterways in the State including streams, rivers, lakes, beaches, and wetlands. The mission of Rivers Alive is to create awareness of and involvement in the preservation of Georgia's water resources. Rivers Alive is held annually each fall and is a program of the Georgia Environmental Protection Division Outreach Program. Our state has 70,150 miles of streams and rivers that need our help!

Kudos to James Strickland and Leo Foskey for helping everyone and boating around getting the trash from canoes and kayaks. Thanks to KMB Board Member Selso Tello for bringing a trash trailer and taking it to the landfill for us afterwards.

Beautiful weather to explore this lil’ piece of paradise! THANKS to ALL of the volunteers who showed up (some before sunrise) and showed out! 26! Together we make a difference!

The DARIEN FALL FESTIVAL (Nov, 4) was awesome! Great job Darien GA Lions Club! We had several supporters join or renew their KMB memberships, people that wanted info and applications for the Abandoned Building Program, some wanting to Adopt-A Highway/Park/Spot. #communitystrong And we LOVE talking with our community and letting them know ways we can all help keep Darien and McIntosh County clean, green and beautiful!

KMB needs your support and your volunteer participation. Please join us or renew your membership for 2023-24 TODAY! It's easy to do on our website, with a downloadable form or with PayPal.

Keep McIntosh Beautiful is a volunteer-based, self-funded 501(c)3 non-profit affiliate of Keep America Beautiful and the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, but we receive no funds from either organization or financial support from any government entity.

Individual and local business support is VITAL for our operation and to fund KMB activities for Litter Prevention and Control; Recycling, Education; Beautification Projects & Abandoned Buildings Removal Assistance Program, benefitting Darien & McIntosh County.

Thank you!

Adopt A Highway, Park or Spot!

Welcome THE YOUTH GROUPS OF ST. ANDREW'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH! Led by Youth Director Laura Evans, they are keeping INVERNESS PARK on MLK Drive in Darien clean, green & beautiful!

A big thanks to all of our Adopt A Highway/Park/Spot volunteers

in Darien and throughout the county. There are still plenty of miles and places needing some TLC. Please consider making this a

way you help keep our community clean and green.

Looking for a way to remove an abandoned building or mobile home from your property? We may be able to help.

Dilapidated and abandoned buildings are eyesores that detract from our community’s appearance and reduce the value of the property where they are located. They can also be unsafe and unhealthy nuisances that are locations for criminal activity. Very often, cost is the reason these derelict structures aren’t removed.

To address the problem in McIntosh County, we offer financial assistance to owners for the demolition and removal of abandoned buildings from their property. Structures must be located in McIntosh County, unoccupied, and beyond repair to qualify.
