Rewards for Rover on the Road:
Sales of Dog Treats Support Hospitality Charity

For Immediate Release

October 14, 2021 (Vancouver, BC) – Nanaimo’s Foley Dog Treat Company has partnered with the BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) and BC SPCA with the launch of their new baked dog treats: Wander Dog “Treats for traveling pups”. Foley Dog Treat Company will donate $0.50 from each bag sold to both BCHF & BC SPCA. The charity hopes that local hotels and tourist attractions that welcome dogs and their guardians will support the initiative by purchasing treats to give to their canine “clientele.”

Foley Dog Treat Company Owner/Operator, Daniel Stiefvater, has worked his entire career in the hospitality and wine industry. With many of his previous colleagues being recipients of BCHF support and scholarships, he wanted to continue to support the great work that BCHF does. He says, “this is a perfect crossover project from my previous hospitality life to what I’m doing today in the pet industry. With nearly 50% of Canadian households having at least one four-legged-family-member, it’s increasingly important for hotel and hospitality operators to welcome pets, and these treats are an excellent amenity. And in turn, they will support two great charities”.

Foley Dog Treats are a favourite among pups because of their fantastic flavour and crunchy texture and are much-loved by dog owners because of their superior quality and rich nutritional profile. The treats are sold across Canada but are made on Vancouver Island from human-grade ingredients that are:
·        Locally sourced
·        Unprocessed
·        Preservative-free
·        Hormone and antibiotic-free
·        Gluten-free and grain-free

Wander Dog “Treats for traveling pups” are made from wild Pacific salmon and Saskatoon berries. Packaged in 170g recyclable bags, produced in Vancouver, they feature an abstract painting created by Rogan the dog. Yes, a dog painted the package!

Rogan, a miniature Australian shepherd from Medicine Hat, Alta., started painting in 2020. His owner, Megan Bolen, says it was supposed to be something fun to do together. To date, Rogan has painted over 200 paintings and has raised over $5,000 for local rescues. His work appeared in an art exhibit in Hong Kong earlier this year resulting in one of his biggest accomplishments thus far.

“Paw-some” hotels & businesses who want to support this great collaboration can purchase a case of 12 bags at wholesale price by clicking HERE. Individual bags can also be purchased for $9.99/bag from www.foleydogtreat.com

The BCHF thanks the Foley Dog Treat Company for its generosity! Funds raised by the initiative will support hospitality industry workers facing financial crisis due to a serious health condition experienced by themselves or a family member. The registered charity also administers a scholarship program that fosters the development of the next generation of hospitality industry workers and leaders.
