Greetings Rondout Families, Faculty and Friends,

December days are flying by, and we are a little less than two weeks away from our winter break. We are excited to share the details of our Cozy Day Festivities scheduled for K-5 on December 22, 2022. Working in collaboration with the PTSA, Rondout will be rocking with fun and festivities throughout the day. K-5 students will be able to wear their cozy clothes and school appropriate pajamas will be welcome to be the dress of the day. Parent volunteers are being recruited to help with the following activities that will be scheduled by class throughout the day:

Hot Chocolate Cart and Stories

The cart will travel from room to room, delivering hot chocolate. Parent volunteers will be reading stories aloud to the class while the students enjoy their hot chocolate treat.

Cookie Decorating and Winter Bingo

Parents will oversee a cookie decorating station. Students will be able to decorate (and eat!) Winter cookies. Cookies for those with gluten and other allergies will be available. After creating their own snack, students will play winter bingo with parent volunteers.

Upper School Day of Service and School Cool Activities

The Upper School will be traveling to Feed My Starving Children for a service opportunity in the morning and will engage in other Upper School “cool” winter activities throughout the rest of the day. They will also enjoy traveling hot chocolate and special cookie treats at lunch. Since the Upper School will be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, regular school clothes will be required as well as closed toe shoes and no jewelry as required by FMSC.

Times will be staggered which will allow parents to help with more than one classroom. Cozy Day will provide a great opportunity to celebrate the various traditions in our community and will provide inclusive activities and treats for all students.

Look for a link to sign up to enjoy the day with us as a volunteer next week. The PTSA will be coordinating the volunteer sign ups. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

We hope you will mark your calendars for a special Family Reading Night this year. This year we will be hosting a Family Reading Night Dinner on Thursday, January 26, 2023.  We have a lovely evening planned to support families spending time together which will include a spaghetti dinner and other activities. Check in will begin at 5:30 p.m. with festivities set to begin at 5:50 p.m. We wanted to give you plenty of notice in case you needed to adjust your schedule to be able to join us as a family. Official invitations and RSVP directions will go out before winter break. It should be a very special evening and we look forward to our families joining us for this exciting event bringing together our school community.

Have a great weekend and don't forget to order your donuts by 10 a.m. on Wednesday

Take care…

Until next time…
