POST HURRICANE IAN MESSAGE
It has been 4 weeks since Hurricane Ian hit Southwest Florida. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted by the storm. As 23-year residents, it is heartwarming to see the virtually instantaneous and ongoing rescue response for those affected so severely.
Ian for the most part was a first time experience for Naples. Wind damage on the scale of things was minimal, but the storm surge took its toll on a lot of the coastal neighborhoods and low lying areas.
Recovery is certainly a process, but we've been amazed to see how quickly power and other services were restored. The first responders have been true superheroes and we are very grateful for all they've done and continue to do. Our state leaders have also done an incredible job supplying those affected most with immediate need items right after the storm passed.
The clean-up process will take time, but we are well on our way back. Most restaurants and several parks are already open, but the beaches and Naples Pier remain closed. We do not have a timeline as to when they will re-open, but we’re told it will be as soon as they are safe.
You may also be wondering about the golf communities in the area. Most fared well and are fully open or partially open. The costal clubs were most affected and will take the longest to recover.
You might also be curious about the impact the storm will have on home prices. Based on our past experiences, home prices have gone up slightly following our previous storms.
We are resilient and we are confident our area will rebuild and be even stronger!
