COVID/Flu/RSV Announcement

COVID, Flu, and RSV are on the rise.

If you are experiencing symptoms of respiratory illness, please stay home in order to protect our friends and neighbors and curb the spread of disease.

We encourage you to wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Christmas falls on a Sunday this year! In order for everyone to spend this special day at home with their families, there will not be an in-person worship service on Chrsitmas morning.

We have prepared a special pre-recorded service to go live on our YouTube channel at 8AM MST on Christmas Morning December 2!

Click here to go to the video. Merry Christmas!!

When we arrived Sunday (December 18) the choir riser was broken, so a group of people jumped in to help. Our congregation is full of angels in our midst. We give thanks for the many people who are willing to make Heart of Longmont a special church!

Thank You, Santa's Helpers!

Thank you to all of those who spent their time, their talents, their effort, and their expertise to make Christmas not only a reality for so many families in our community but for making it feel really special for them.

We had parents who brought their children that thanked us not only for doing this wonderful event, but for giving them respect.

This event would not be possible without all of your generosity!!

I will look forward to next year. :)

Help out with Sunday Kids!

Sunday Kids are growing! How wonderful it is to see children in the building on Sunday mornings! We have split the "littles" from the "big" kids and are providing Children's Church in the Library while the Nursery remains for the "littles". But we need your help!

If you would be willing to be a "helper" either in the Nursery or Children's Church, please let Tricia Grafelman or Lynn Greenhalge know! Another way you can help is by being an emergency back-up! We may grab you from the church service or Sunday School class if you are there and can cover.

ALL those who work with the children will need to go through our Safe Sanctuary training which is online and simple to complete.

Let's keep this momentum rolling and protect the future of our church while having fun!

Miracle Window Update

The Miracle Window repairs continue. Phil has been dealing with a long term case of COVID since Thanksgiving. Jane had a less severe case.

Phil is continuing work on the Starburst panel and has a couple single pieces to finish replacing. There is one support T-bar to correct also.

Their patience to do the work correctly has not wavered.

What’s Happening with Wesley Homes?

There has been significant behind the scenes action on the Wesley Homes project.

To deed the land to The Inn Between, a survey must be completed.

Clint Schahrer contacted 3 companies for quotes. Before making a decision on which company to use, a few more questions need to be answered. We are moving in a direction to make that decision. The survey will take about 10 weeks.

The Wesley Homes team is pursuing funding through grants to pay for the cost of the survey.

Steps have also been taken for moving the Wild Plum Outdoor Learning Center closer to the building.

Jean Malchow has been diligently working on refining the drawing and planning for that. Quotes for materials have been attained.

The committee will be applying to a variety of foundations seeking funding for the Outdoor Learning Center. Wild Plum will be assisting us.

You might be wondering why HOL is burdened with the expenses involved with this project. As owners of the property, we are responsible for any changes made and as such we bear the burden of costs.

The Wesley Homes team continues to make progress toward realization of affordable housing for families.

If you want to know more, contact Rod Edmonds, Jean Malchow, Clint Schahrer, Joan Edmonds or Tricia Grafelman.

It's Not Too Late To Give

Of course you know, year end 2022 is upon us, and I feel compelled to remind you it’s not too late…

You still have time to make a contribution to the Heart of Longmont for 2022. As long as your contribution is dated by December 31, it will be included in your 2022 giving statement. You may support Heart of Longmont with a check (mailed or dropped off at the church this week), or by clicking on this link to give online https://secure.myvanco.com/YN6K/home.

If you have questions or are looking for year end guidance, there are two resources on the hospitality desk you might find of value: Thanksgiving Sharing Life’s Gifts and Year End Gifts.

If you are unsure of where you stand in terms of 2022 giving, you may check your giving statement via Breeze, or request a statement (email or "snail mail") from the office and one will be sent to you.

As always, a big thank you to all who have supported the various ministries of Heart of Longmont this year. Our ability to put more of God’s love into the world is made possible with everyone’s support.

Student Care Packages

Each year our United Women of Fairth like to remember students in our church family who are pursuing post high school training and undergraduate degrees with a care package. These packages are sent out in late February. Parents: please submit your student’s name and address to Becky Vancura no later than January 10th. Contact Becky at: 720-771-7746 or becky.vancura@gmail.com.

Please note the Heart of Longmont Office will be closed on the following dates:

  • November 24
  • November 25
  • December 26
  • January 2

Christmas Poinsettias

You are invited to help decorate the altar with poinsettias for Christmas.

You may donate a poinsettia in memory or in honor of a loved one or friend. Submit your request on a flyer which will accompany the bulletin each Sunday November 27, December 4, 11 and 18.

The flowers will be displayed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. You may pick up your poinsettia after either of those services. The cost will be $15.00 payable to the church noted for flowers. Please contact Ann Yoder (303 772-8294) or the church office for more information.

Prison Ministry

Note pads, cards and calendars start appearing in the mail this time of year. Instead of tossing them into the recycle barrel, deposit them in the air lock cupboard labeled “prison ministry”.

One person’s trash becomes another person’s treasure.

Christmas Eve Services - We invite everyone, no matter who you are, to join us in person or online for Christmas Eve services. We will be hosting two services December 24. At 4:30PM there will be a family service. At 7:00PM will be our Candlelight service. We hope to see you there.

Brown Bag Lunch Study - Starting Tuesday, Jan. 17th, at 12:00 pm Pastor Claire would like to invite you to "pack you lunch and unpack the prior sermon" with her. The study lasts for 4 weeks. We will meet in the Parlor.

Enneagram Study - Are you curious about your personality type? The Enneagram Personality test is a system of personality typing that describes patterns in how people interpret the world and manage their emotions. The Enneagram describes nine personality types and maps each of these types on a nine-pointed diagram which helps to illustrate how the types relate to one another.

Join us for a 4 week study starting Tuesday evening, January 31st at 6:30 via zoom. More information to follow as the date gets closer. If you are interested, let Tricia know. Cost is $12 to take the Enneagram test. Mark your calendars now!

December's compassion offering supports two wonderful causes this year. Donations will be split between Habitat for Humanity and Wesley Homes.

Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. 1 in 7 Colorado families pays more than 50% of their income on housing. Habitat is dedicated to providing decent, affordable housing for low-income families in the community.

Heart of Longmont entered into a partnership with the nonprofit The Inn Between in July 2022 on the Wesley Homes project. The Inn Between of Longmont provides affordable housing rental to individuals and families who are below 40% of the median income level for Boulder County. Wesley Homes will involve construction of approximately 12 2-story units for families to rent at the North end of the HOL parking lot. The housing will be long term rental but also serve as a stepping stone to home ownership as families become more financially stable. You can read more about Wesley Homes on our website.

If you wish to donate to this month's compassion offering, you can do so online by clicking here and navigating to the Monthly Compassion Offering tile. Or, you may send a check to the church office with "Compassion Offering" on the memo line.

OUR Center Holiday Wish List

With cooler weather and increased activity, we can certainly feel that the winter holidays will soon be upon us! Many of you are already reaching out to see how you can help - thank you!

See below for the items we can use for our Community Cafe and Community Market programs, as we see more families needing food and as we prepare for extra holiday provisions.

Our Mission:

Putting More of God's Love Into The World

Helping all persons find deeper meaning and God’s purpose for their lives as committed Christ-followers.

Serving as the Heart of Longmont means:

We will welcome all persons, without reservation or judgment,

just as Jesus Christ would do.

We will work tirelessly by entering into intentional acts of compassion and social justice to make our community a place where God’s love is known by all, where poverty and deprivation are unknown by any, and where respect for the worth and dignity of each person is the norm.

We will respect and honor other religious traditions

while choosing Christ as our way of knowing God best.

We will emphasize life-long learning so that we may

engage our world from a dynamic and creative perspective.

We will work to protect God’s creation.

We will practice stewardship of all aspects of our lives,

including time, talent, financial resources, and spiritual gifts.
