Lancaster Employers Recognized by Governor for Achievement in Leading Career Ready Lancaster!
|
|
Each year, PWDA presents its prestigious Governor’s Achievement Employer Award. This award recognizes Pennsylvania employers that are exemplary supporters of workforce, community, and economic development in the commonwealth, and which have created jobs and partnered to hire skilled workers through Pennsylvania’s workforce development system.
“We salute Peter [Caddick] and Jodi [Pace] for their time commitment, for that of CNH Industrial and Advanced Food Products, for allowing them company time to be committed to such an important initiative, and for their relentless effort to champion and grow Career Ready Lancaster! into a model career pathways initiative for the state,” Anna Ramos, Lancaster County Workforce Development Board chief operating officer and PWDA member.

ICYMI, the March installment of United Way of Lancaster County's Conversations About OUR Community series featured Career Ready Lancaster!, a "career-pathways partnership linking people to their career through collaboration of education, business and community groups." Featured are Kevin Ressler, President and CEO of United Way Lancaster, Darryl Gordon of High Industries, Brian Troop with Ephrata Area School District, Michelle Balliet with Elizabethtown Area School District, Miranda Martz with the Manufacturer's Association and Marlyn Barbosa with Tec Centro.

Deputy Secretary of Workforce Development to visit Quarryville Library May 24th
|
On May 24th Deputy Secretary Sheila Ireland will visit Quarryville Library to showcase the $45K Digital Literacy Grant awarded to Millersville University to train employed and unemployed residents in computer skills. Partnering with Quarryville Library and Adamstown Library, and partnering with PA CareerLink Lancaster County, participants will experience increasing comfort with and experience in online learning to create significant opportunities for lifelong learning and skill-building.

For 2022’s Mental Health Awareness Month, National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMI) will amplify the message of “Together for Mental Health.” We will use this time to bring our voices together to advocate for mental health and access to care through NAMI’s blog, personal stories, videos, digital toolkits, social media engagements and national events.
Together, we can realize our shared vision of a nation where anyone affected by mental illness can get the appropriate support and quality of care to live healthy, fulfilling lives.

Mental Health and Substance Abuse Social Workers Employment Outlook
|
|
Mental Health and Substance Abuse Social Workers a ssess and treat individuals with mental, emotional, or substance abuse problems, including abuse of alcohol, tobacco, and/or other drugs. Activities may include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, client advocacy, prevention, and education. Lancaster County is in demand of 299 Social Workers in the next 10 years. Social Workers earn an average wage of $42,000 annually. Post-Secondary training is required. There are many pathways to becoming a social worker. Currently there are 26 active job ads in Lancaster County!
