President's Message

Now that we’re well into the fall season, it’s time to pull out the scarves and boots, grab a PSL from Starbucks and head out to smell fall scented candles and window shop for fall décor. Can any other “basics” relate? Along with all this coziness, we have a lot going on at WTS.

I just came back from our Professional Development Program with Dr. Daniele Lyman-Torres on Emotional Intelligence & Leadership Storytelling. Dr. Lyman-Torres knows how to fill a room with laughter and pack a lot of great content into two hours. For those of you who attended, I hope you walked away with a little bit of confidence to tell YOUR story and some tools to help with self-reflection, organizational awareness, and relationship management.

The WTS International Chapter Leadership Development Program, held in Newport Beach, CA on November 15 and 16, focuses on chapter leader development. If you are planning to serve on the Leadership Team next year or just wondering what Chapter Leadership is all about, you should consider attending. If you are interested in attending, please reach out to George Cisneros for more information. We will also be hosting our Corporate Partners Reception in November. We realize the value that our Corporate Partners bring to our organization and chapter. Although it never seems like enough, we appreciate the opportunity to celebrate with these partners. If your company is a Corporate Partner, look for information to come over the next few weeks. If you have been thinking about joining WTS as a Corporate Partner, this is a great time to join.

This is also the time of year we begin our Scholarship Campaign and Award Nominations. One of our primary goals at WTS is to advance women in transportation by providing scholarship opportunities to women pursuing transportation-related degrees. We also celebrate the individuals and projects that have made significant contributions to the transportation industry through our annual awards. Look for more information to come and help us spread the word about these scholarship and recognition opportunities.

I hope to see all of you at one of our upcoming events. As always, remember to stay safe, take care of yourself and respect each other. And don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
