McGrady Family Challenge Gift

The caring McGrady Family, headed by former NC Rep. Chuck McGrady and his wife Jean, has blessed IAM with a $40,000 challenge gift. With this gift, IAM kicks off our year-long 40th anniversary celebration.

We hope you will make a donation to help us double or exceed the McGradys’ gift.

Because IAM is not part of a statewide or national nonprofit, every dollar we receive stays right here in our community, helping our neighbors who need assistance with food, clothing, rent and other basic needs to care for their children and our senior citizens living on meager fixed incomes.

We invite you to join IAM and the McGradys in this opportunity to both support our neighbors in need as well as celebrate all that we have accomplished together over the course of the past 40 years. Your gift will have an immediate and profound impact on the lives of residents right here in Henderson County.

IAM's Annual Holiday Food Drive

IAM's Holiday Food Drive is in full swing! Please help us by donating seasonal food items that will allow our neighbors to share in the joy of a special holiday meal in their own homes.

We will be collecting holiday food through December 15th and will distribute holiday foods from November 13th through December 22nd. Thank you for being the Helping Hands and Caring Hearts for our neighbors in need!

Amy Cook

Development Director/HOP Coordiantor

Please join us as we welcome two new members of our IAM Team!

Stefanie Walton is IAM's new Volunteer Coordinator! Stefanie has been a Realtor for the past three years but felt moved to give her time to help others through nonprofit work. And she is excited to be part of the IAM team. “I look forward to working with everyone,” says Stefanie. “I appreciate all IAM does to be the helping hands and caring hearts of Henderson County!”

Welcome, Stefanie!

IAM is also excited to welcome Amy Cook as our new Development Director/HOP Coordinator! Amy was raised in Henderson County and attended Hendersonville High School. Amy has been in Birmingham, Alabama for the past 33 years where she most recently worked for WMU Foundation where she served as Director of Operations.

“I am very excited about returning to the place I have always considered as my home," says Amy. "I am very eager to serve the residents of Henderson County through the efforts of IAM.”

Please help us welcome Amy Cook to IAM and back home to Henderson County!

Our Current Pantry and Clothing Needs

This month our pantry is in critical need of canned foods and frozen meats as we prepare for increased numbers of neighbors in need during the colder months of the year. Your help is more important than ever! Thank you!

Volunteer Opportunities at IAM

Mobile Pantry

IAM's Mobile Pantry heads out into the community each Wednesday from 3:30 to 6 p.m. and we need volunteers to help us check in neighbors and assist them as they select the food they need for their families. This timeframe allows for our neighbors to get their food needs met and cannot make it to our fixed location during working hours.

Clothing Sorters:

Our clothing department provides clothing to every member of the family each month and new clothing for kids going back to school. The clothing closet is set up like a retail store for our neighbors, allowing them to choose their own clothing and accessories. Sorters work to sort the items when they come in as donations.

IAM Thrift Store:

Volunteers are needed in the Thrift Store to assist in sorting items, pricing items, working the cash register, organizing items on the sales floor, and helping the manager as needed. Shifts are available throughout the week.

Neighbor Interviewers:

IAM's Intake Department needs additional volunteers to interview visiting neighbors to determine their needs and the best course of action to provide them assistance. Some computer skills are required. Various shifts are available during the week.

We are able to continue to assist our community because of the help we receive from our wonderful volunteers! We cannot do this without you!

IAM Hiring Driver Associates

IAM is currently searching for two Driver Associates to help with our deliveries and pick-ups. Drivers will be responsible for our Healthy Opportunities Program (HOP) deliveries of healthy food boxes to area families. Primary duties include building and delivering healthy food boxes, picking up donations, grocery orders, and assisting with the day-to-day operations of Interfaith Assistance Ministry.

If you are a professional driver looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives, this is the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our community.

Thank you, Agudas Israel Congregation

Thank you Agudas Israel Congregation for your generous donation of 915 pounds of food and pantry supplies collected during your High Holy Day Food Drive. Your concern and compassion will benefit our neighbors in need.

Thank you!

Thank you, Anonymous Angels

Each month, we have a couple of friends who go shopping for food to donate to our pantry. They prefer not to be identified, so we have dubbed them "The Anonymous Angels"! We are humbled by the compassion and generosity of all the "angels" in our community who support IAM with food, clothing, and financial donations.

Thank you!
