INSTRUMENTS OF PRAISE
Some churches do not believe in using musical instruments in their “facility.” But this is not scriptural. We must always go to the word of God to find truth. Since 2 Timothy 3:15-16 is written to the church and says:
“ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteous; 17 That the man [person] of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.”
When it mentions “All Scripture,” we must remember that there was not any New Testament when this written. They only had the scriptures from the “Old Testament.” So, it is specifically speaking about instruction from the Word of God, which was the Old Testament. Let us see what Psalm 150 has to say about it.
Psalm 150 speaks to us about praise. It says: “Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament, of his power. 2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5 Praise him upon the LOUD cymbals: praise him upon the HIGH-SOUNDING cymbals. 6 Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the Lord.”
This validates the use of musical instruments in the sanctuary [where we gather to worship]. Musical instruments were a very large part of the worship of the Old Testament Saints. This is not quiet praise folks; it is praising God everywhere and with everything we have got!
It is letting Him know our love for Him through praise. Do not make your praise secret. Let people know your love of God everywhere you go—home, work, Church, and everywhere else. If you do not praise Him, the stones will. What a poor substitute for us—stones praising God. Let us use whatever musical instruments, including our voices to praise the Lord with all the means available.
Let us give God praise!
