Greetings, Tutors!

It has been a benefit these past few months to have the opportunity for tutors and students to meet in-person. As we transition from summer to fall we strongly encourage you and your student to spend time now practicing together with the Zoom or WhatsApp platforms. The possibility remains that public health mandates will again be imposed and tutoring will need to be conducted virtually.

Having real-time, hands-on, face-to-face practice together allows you both to understand the access and navigation of the platform and provides a foundation for familiarity with the virtual dimension.

If you want a refresher with Zoom, WhatsApp and Google Forms basics, or want to learn more about a specific platform, register for an upcoming session. The workshops listed below have been previously presented and are structured to provide introductory information that you can take and use.

  • Zoom & WhatsApp 101 Workshop
  • These Workshops can help tutors unfamiliar with using Zoom or WhatsApp feel more comfortable with either platform and help you get up and running for virtual tutoring. Using the Zoom platform, a step-by-step presentation will be given on the specific application, how to get it on your device, and its basic features.

  • Google Drive Workshop
  • Explore how to use Google features, such as Slides and Docs, to enhance your virtual tutoring. Learn the basics of using Google Drive, and explore how to use Google to share visual materials, structure your lessons, and get your learner involved with online materials. A Gmail address is required for using the Google suite, and recommended for the workshop, but not required.

We hope to see you at one or more of these upcoming workshops where you will increase your knowledge and feel comfortable with virtual tutoring.
