Ready to Learn Program
WMHT’s Ready To Learn Program provides resources, training, and family engagement activities for childcare providers, early education teachers, and families. In-person workshops and community programs use public broadcasting’s media content to significantly expand the literacy skills of children. Programs may be held at libraries, schools, daycare centers, faith-based organizations, or community centers. Programs are 60 to 90 minutes long and may be scheduled for day or evening, weekday or weekends. Fees include presenter travel, books, and other workshop materials. Click here for more information.
Continuing Teacher & Leader Education
WMHT is an SED-approved provider for Continuing Teacher and Leader Education (CTLE) credits. As of 2016, the NY State Education Department requires that all holders of professional classroom teaching, educational leadership, or Level III teaching assistant certificates complete 100 hours of CTLE training within a five-year period. More info.

MHANYS and WMHT have partnered to provide a platform for training in practical skills for mental health awareness and agency. Teachers that attend the online session on December 7th @ 6 pm will receive professional development credit upon completion. Register here.
Searching for Timbuctoo is also available for CTLE credit. This locally-produced documentary by Paul Miller tells the little-known story of a Black settlement, established in the wilds of upstate New York, that brought together a group of ardent abolitionists willing to risk their fortunes, their families, and their futures to destroy slavery. Watch the film to receive credit.

We pleased to report that PBS Learning Media based on Searching for Timbuctoo are currently being developed! Check back in January for info!
