Dear Friends,
I hope you find this lovely reflection that Ginny provided very thought provoking!
The Body is Humankind from Singing the Living Tradition # 651
I am a single cell in a body of four billion cells. The body is humankind.
I am a single cell. My needs are individual but they are not unique.
I am interlocked with other human beings in the consequences of our actions, thoughts, and feelings.
I will work for human unity and human peace; for a moral order in harmony with the order of the universe.
Together we share the quest for a society of the whole equal to our needs.
A society in which we need not live beneath our moral capacity, and in which justice has a life of its own.
We are single cells in a body of four billion cells. The body is humankind.
-Norman Cousins
Reminds me of the body of Christ. . .
See you next week!
Blessings and peace,
Karen+

O God, our refuge and strength,
our help in times of trouble.
Have mercy on the lands
damaged by fires.
Have mercy on the lands
where the weather has destroyed livelihoods. Protect those who evacuate houses, and strengthen those who rebuild hope so that entire communities may face the future without fear.
Amen.

Cardboard needed!
Please bring in all that cardboard you know you’ve been wanting to get rid of! The landscapers (Jessica & Co.) need it for weed control on the embankment.

Poem from the Garden
Here's the instructions
I gave Calero
students on how to
pick the ripe masses
of grapes. Snip the base
of the bunches, right
into the tall take
out containers, and
make sure to leave room
for spiders, ants to
leave before eating,
fill to the brim and
eat joyfully as
soon as you come home.

Food for thought:
“When love is the way, poverty will become history.
When love is the way, the Earth will be a sanctuary.
When love is the way, we will lay down our swords and shields, down by the riverside to study war no more.”
-The Presiding Bishop Michael Curry

NEEDING PRAYER SUPPORT?
Prayer is one of those things we often think about, might feel inadequate about, believe in but might be unsure how to proceed. How we pray is sometimes unique to each of us. The Church provides help in many ways. If you find yourself in need, of any kind (emotional, physical, spiritual, guidance, etc) consider how St. Stephen's can support you:
* there is a prayer chain of committed pray-ers (who maintain confidentiality).
* tell people about your answers to prayer! and the miracles you witness, or how prayer changes YOU.
Please submit prayer requests to Rev. Karen.
