Trinity Chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew celebrates their 35th Anniversary!

On November 30th the Trinity Chapter of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew celebrates their 35th anniversary. The Chapter began with fewer than 10 members and has grown to over 30 now and is the second largest chapter in the Diocese of Virginia.

The chapter actively supports our parish, hosting an annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Italian Dinner in October, helping to set up and grill on Trinity Sunday, taking the lead in Yard Cleanup Day, and donating to such ministries as Blessings in a Backpack and Elf Sunday. Additionally, some members support community causes as building ramps for wheelchair users through SAWs and participating in Rebuilding Together to help repair houses of homeowners who cannot afford the expenses.

St. Andrew's Day, November 30th, is marked by celebrations by chapters throughout the world and is best known as a celebration of Scottish culture. Since 2006, it has been officially recognized as a national holiday in Scotland. St. Andrew's feast day in some years coincides with the start of Advent (the first Sunday following November 26th).

Advent-To-Go Bags

On Sunday, November 28th from 12-1 pm, Trinity will have a drive-by pick up for Advent-To-Go bags. Bags will also be available after Sunday services and include Advent candles, an Advent calendar, and other items to help you observe this holy season. Advent activity books are available for children.
Holiday Blues

Join us Sunday, December 5th at 4:00 pm for Holiday Blues.

Holiday Blues is a worship service of prayer and healing for grief and loss. We welcome everyone to join as we support those having a difficult time with the holiday season.
Youth Advent Labyrinth Walk

On December 5th, from 12:30-2 pm, Trinity Youth will host an Advent Labyrinth Walk at Trinity; St. George’s youth will be our guests.

Bring a bag lunch or sandwich. Beverages, chips, and dessert will be provided. For more information please contact Sam Burton at sburton@trinity-fredericksburg.org.
Advent and Christmas in Trinity's Library

The Library Committee has planned some special ways to mark the holy season of Advent and celebrate the joys of Christmas. Everyone is invited to participate.

Beginning this Sunday, November 28th, take note of the display of books related to Advent as well as the Advent wreath that will be lit with the appropriate flameless candles marking the four Sundays in Advent.  Why not borrow a book on Advent and learn more about the history and devotions of the season as we prepare ourselves for the birth of the Christ Child?

Then on Sunday, December 19th, the Library will host a Christmas open house.  Stop by for refreshments, gifts for the children and youth, and maybe even something for two lucky adults.

There will be a very short reading at 9:15 am and 11:45 am from the book A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote, one of the most touching of Christmas stories.  So let’s all gather in the library for this event.

Library Committee members will be easily identified in their Santa caps.  Come and help make some of our own Christmas memories on December 19th.  Watch the newsletter for more information in the coming weeks.
Advent on the Labyrinth

Advent is a time of waiting; waiting for the birth of Jesus. A labyrinth offers a quiet place for prayer and spiritual reflection, a place to wait and be still. It can be a place to slow down and reflect on the true meaning of Christmas as we await the birth of the long expected Savior.

Might the labyrinth be the place where you find a sense of peace that you can take back into your daily life during the hectic holiday season? Please consider using the labyrinth as your waiting place during Advent.
The Greening of the Church

All parishioners are welcome December 19th following the 10:30 am service for a fun couple of hours in the traditional hanging of the greens!

Help Trinity Church properly welcome our Lord! Join in setting up the Christmas Tree in the loft, hang ropes of greenery, place poinsettias, and more!

Add to the merriment by singing Christmas carols played by Randall Clingenpeel!

Light food and drinks will be provided.
Free in the Library

The Trinity library is offering free note cards, memo pads, 2022 calendars, and a wide variety of bookmarks with spiritual themes.

Phyllis Rundman contributed the items and suggested offering such material as an on-going library service. Included are thank you, get well, and sympathy cards. The items are available in the display basket beside the library's desk. Contributions of like items to the new give-away display are appreciated.
Christmas Pageant

We have some exciting news!

Trinity will have a live Christmas Pageant this year!

There will have to be some necessary adjustments, such as masks and distancing in deference to the pandemic, of course, but it will be wonderful to have the children bring us the Christmas story as only they can!

Rehearsals for the pageant will be held from 9:15 – 10:15 am on December 12th and 19th. Parents, please look for an email on Thursday with a link to a Google doc so that you can sign up your child(ren) to participate in the pageant. Youth narrators will need to sign up on this document as well. If you have any questions, or do not receive the email with the link, please contact Sam Burton at sburton@trinity-fredericksburg.org

Thanksgiving and Christmas
Special Offerings

The Vestry has designated the special offerings for Thanksgiving and Christmas to be split between the school at El Hogar and Micah Ecumenical Ministries.

We have supported El Hogar for more than 25 years. Micah started in our Jamison Hall and continues to do great work getting homeless folks off the street.

Please send a check to Trinity Church (825 College Ave., 22401) with "Christmas or Thanksgiving offering" in the memo space, use the special offering envelopes, or go to the Trinity website, pick online giving, and select "Christmas" as the fund.

Hopefully we can be generous from our abundance in continuing our support for these programs in this time of great need!
Christmas Outreach Program

It is that wonderful time of year once again!

We have adopted 25 children from the Salvation Army for our outreach program this year. We will be using Sign-Up Genius again for signing up for all the wishes.

Click here to sign up online.  Sign up will end on December 1, 2021.

Elf Sunday will be held at Church in the lounge on Sunday December 5, 2021 between 8:00-11:30 am.

We will need a few volunteers to help with packing up the gifts for pick up by the Salvation Army. To be an Elf, please email Donna Krauss at dkrauss33@verizon.net. Many Elves make light work and a joyful time for all.

Thank you in advance for supporting this outreach!

Trinity Welcomes Bishop Goff!

Bishop Goff will be coming to Trinity on January 16, 2022.

Would you like to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church? Perhaps you were raised in another tradition and would like to "officially" join the Episcopal Church. Maybe you've never been baptized or someone in your family desires baptism.

Bishop Goff will confirm, receive, and baptize while she is here. Please contact Mother Cynthia at cynthia@trinity-fredericksburg.org for more information.
