Workdays to Weaving Days - My Next Chapter!

It’s hard to believe that SEFAA will turn 16 on July 17th! What began as a wild idea and three $100 donations from the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild, the East Cobb Quilters’ Guild, and the Atlanta Knitting Guild has grown into a thriving community with a full-time facility, an employee, and a budget exceeding $100,000. I started spinning the yarn, but you’ve taken that thread and woven the strong and resilient fabric that connects us all. So, even though it’s time for me to retire, I know SEFAA will continue to flourish.

My official retirement date is April 15th, but Stuart and I won’t be moving to New Mexico until 2026. That means I’ll still see you at the SEFAA Center and online, and I’ll be here to support Bella and our Board of Directors as they guide our next chapter. I know I’m stretching the metaphor, but I can’t wait to see the new colors and patterns that emerge from the durable foundation we’ve created together.

Being part of SEFAA has been a joy and the honor of a lifetime. Your enthusiasm, support, and friendship mean the world to me, and I will always treasure you and our incredible organization.

March at SEFAA

March has been a exciting month at SEFAA! We kicked things off with the gallery opening of Betwixt & Between: New Interpretations of Quilting and followed it up with an inspiring artist talk by Jess Jones and an engaging Double Weave program with Erika Lewis. Throughout the month, we also hosted four fantastic classes led by Jessica Kaufman and JoEl Levy LoGiudice. We have also spent the month making flowers for Winship Emory Cancer Institute patients. To wrap it all up, we’ll end March with a docent tour of Threads of Change at MODA. It’s been a wonderful month, and we’re excited to see what April has in store!
