Confront the Homelessness Crisis

Governor Newsom’s $100 billion California Comeback Plan proposes largest increase for homeless housing in California history, creating over 46,000 new units and helping hundreds of thousands of homeless Californians

Homeless Youth: A Vulnerable Population 

Each year, an estimated 4.2 million youth and young adults experience homelessness in the United States. Every night, thousands of young people experience homelessness without a parent or guardian - going to sleep without the support and stability of a family or a home. Among homeless youth, 40% identify as LGBTQ and they have more than twice the risk of being homeless than their heterosexual peers.

This infographic explores youth homelessness, risk factors for becoming homeless, the health toll associated with being homeless, and what can be done to address this crisis.
Newsom Proposes Additional $600 Stimulus Checks and $5 billion Toward Rental Assistance

Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed a second round of $600 state stimulus checks on Monday to hasten California’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, hoping to expand the payments from low-income residents to also include middle-class families, and noting that doing so would ensure benefits for 2 out of 3 state residents
