The new Family Medical Leave Insurance Program (FAMLI) will go into effect on January 1, 2023 for all Colorado employers, who will be required to register with the state, notify their employees, and start collecting and remitting premiums (set to .9% of wages with the cost split between employer and employee). This is a social insurance program which will start providing benefits to employees of up to 12 weeks of paid leave beginning on January 1, 2024.
Also starting in 2023 is the Colorado Secure Savings Program, which is a state sponsored retirement plan for employees who don't have access to an employer sponsored plan. Employers with less than 5 employees and/or have been in business less than 2 years are exempt, and Colorado will begin notifying businesses when it's time to register, sometime next year.
