Second Harvest Service Event!

1pm-4pm on Friday, December 1st

Mark your calendar to come and serve with your fellow FPA members at the Second Harvest Food Bank on Friday, December 1st. Duties will be assigned when you arrive and training will be provided on-site before we begin.

Tasks could vary but will be either sorting, packing / re-packing, labeling, cleaning, or a combination. Some tasks are not food related, but aid in their effort to provide food for others. Be on the lookout for more details to come!

New Chaper Bylaws

Earlier this year, the Board of the FPA of East Tennessee updated our chapter bylaws to standardize processes and ensure consistency from year-to-year. Some of the changes include:

President, Secretary, and Treasurer may serve two-year terms
Formalized the Secretary role
Formalized the nominating committee
Confirmed annual meeting of membership (every September)

Membership Dollars

Did you know that your FPA Membership dues support the FPA of East Tennessee as well as the FPA National organization? Each year, the board of each chapter gets to choose how much to charge in addition to the national dues. This year, we voted to increase local dues from $100 to $120 for CFP®️ Professionals and Allied Professionals. These dues are used to cover the compensation of our Chapter Executive and the overall administrative costs of the chapter.

The FPA is Celebrating 50 Years of CFP®️ Certification

Happy 50th Anniversary to the CFP®️ Certification! To mark this special anniversary, the Financial Planning Association released a video look back at the first 50 years of CFP® certification! Ben Coombs, a member of the first CFP® Class in 1973, and Lew Walker, a member of the third CFP® Class in 1975, share the story in the video below.
