Hats and lap blankets for the Cancer Center
Beginning Nov 29
Calling all knitters! Starting the week after Thanksgiving, we're collecting hats and lap blankets for the Cancer Center at Augusta Health. Stop by the front desk to pick up a bag with specific instructions for your hat or blanket. When your project is finished, put it in the bag to keep it clean and drop it back at the front desk.

For all projects, experts recommend cotton or bamboo yarn (wool can be scratchy on sensitive skin). Hats can use any snug-fitting pattern, and shouldn't be more than 8" from center to edge. Adult sizes are preferred, as the CDC doesn't recommend homemade or donated hats for young children during chemotherapy. Lap blankets are generally 36"x52", but any size is appreciated.
Gingerbread House Decorating
Wed, Dec 1 - Mon, Dec 20
Get ready to make a festive holiday gingerbread house! Pick up a kit at the front desk, get as creative as you want with your decorations, and submit a photo to librarian@ci.waynesboro.va.us (or message us on Facebook). Limit one kit per family, while supplies last. Missed out on the free kit? You can still make your own gingerbread house and submit a photo to join in on the fun. We'll showcase all submissions on Instagram and Facebook. Call (540) 942-6746 to register.
Santa at the Library
Sat, Dec 4, 10am - Noon
Santa Claus visits the library! Bring your camera for an outdoor photo opportunity with Santa. All ages (no pets, please!). No registration is required.
For everyone's safety, please wear a mask in line. Masks can be taken off for the photo. Santa and Mrs. Claus have been vaccinated and won't be masked.
