A group of Instructors from New River CTC presented at the Small Communities Big Solutions Conference on November 17, 2021. The topic was, General Education in Career and Technical Programs: It's Not Junk and Why It Matters. The presenters were Dr. Wendy Patriquin, Ms. Christie Alexander, Mr. Charlie Coates, Mr. Brandon Mills, and Ms. Tricia Hoover. The focus of their presentation was how teaching General Education Outcomes will help develop Soft Skills needed to get and stay hired in the workforce.

This was a project overseen by Dr. Patriquin, Mr. Brian Sampson, and Mr. Steve Lasek during the summer and fall 2021. In addition to the four speakers, other team members included Ms. Rebecca Simpkins, Ms. Dianna Putorek, and Mr. Dave Holland. Look for more information from this group during January’s Faculty-Staff Institute.

COVID-19 vaccines for children and teens
CDC recommends everyone ages 5 and older get a COVID-19 vaccine to help protect against COVID-19. Widespread vaccination for COVID-19 is a critical tool to best protect everyone, especially those at highest risk, from severe illness and death. People who are fully vaccinated can safely resume many activities that they did prior to the pandemic. Children ages 5 years and older are able to get an age-appropriate dose of Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine.
