Regional West Welcomes Ned Resch as New President and Chief Executive Officer Along with Three New Board Members

Monday, March 10, Regional West board of directors welcomed Ned Resch as President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Resch succeeds Mel McNea, MHA, who served as Regional West’s President and CEO for the past two years.

Mr. Resch’s career in healthcare began in 2002 as an Environmental Service Associate at Intermountain Healthcare. There, he spent over five years in both clinical and non-clinical positions before leaving to attend graduate school in 2007. Resch then spent seven years with the Veterans Healthcare System, where he worked in multiple positions of increasing responsibility and leadership across the country and in many large hospital systems.

Since 2016, Resch has worked for Banner Health in their rural market. He oversaw medical group operations in Wyoming and California and, in 2019, was promoted to CEO of Banner’s Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming. In 2021, Resch was named CEO of Sterling Regional MedCenter, a level III designated trauma hospital in northeast Colorado. In this capacity, Resch oversaw all aspects of both clinical and non-clinical operations and secured over $20 million in capital to improve vital care delivery infrastructure. Resch loves operations and strategy, is focused on quality and safety, and is most passionate about people and culture, including physician and community engagement.

Teen Recovering from Stroke after

Four-Wheeler Accident

Life changed for Regional West employee Chelsea Johnston and her 14-year-old son Hayden Gipfert on Aug. 25, when Hayden was in a four-wheeler accident. He suffered a stroke three days later while recovering at home, necessitating a transfer to Children's Hospital Colorado Anschutz in Aurora, Colorado, via Regional West’s Air Link helicopter.

“Regional West’s ER nurses were kind and updated me with the information I asked for, and they were calm during the absolute worst moments in my life,” said Chelsea, who works as administrative assistant in Regional West Physicians Clinic administration. “The Air Link crew took the time to care for me and make sure they introduced themselves to me before they took my son. These small things played into a bigger purpose and are greatly appreciated.”

To help serve the needs of the region’s patients, Regional West Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has introduced a community paramedic program.

The community paramedic program is designed to expand the role of the EMS team to help bridge the gaps in rural healthcare. Through a referral-based program, community paramedics meet with patients and their families post-discharge to make sure patients understand their care information and have the tools to recover at home, helping to reduce the risk of unnecessary Emergency Department visits and hospital readmission. Additionally, the program will help connect patients to community resources.
