JANUARY 2022
Welcome to the January 2022 issue of Airways Insider!

As we begin 2022, we would like to wish everyone a prosperous and Happy New Year!

Congratulations to our newest Employee of the Month, Kathy Harber!
EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH - KATHY HARBER
"Kathy Harber has been a member of the Airways family for 31 yrs. Throughout her tenure she has always been a “company first” employee. She acts as our Corporate/Admin Secretary, but that title pales in comparison to what she actually does at Airways and the responsibility she carries. While not only being our Admin assistant, she also is heavily involved in personnel, payroll, health insurance & employee benefits, human resources, and admin accounts payable. She also currently holds a seat in our scholarship committee.

Kathy works directly with me, Dale, Ken and William Whitfield, our CFO, and to term an old MASH TV show term, she’s our “Radar”, many times knowing what we need before we even ask. In addition to all her other duties, which are many, she has also heads up our Angel Fund which helps many families and children during Christmas and throughout the year." ~ Denny Wood, President
"Kathy is a veteran employee who is behind the scenes helping to make sure Airways is always open for business. She constantly has a cheerful and willing to help attitude which makes her a joy to work with at all times.

"She also takes time out of her busy schedule to handle the Angel Tree Project here at Airways, collecting money, purchasing gifts and delivering them to various organizations for kids at Christmas time."

~ Erik Fortin, Director of Operations,
Product/Domestic Services
"Kathy has been helpful to me since I arrived here at Airways in 2002. She’s always pleasant and has a smile on her face. Just don’t be late with your AMEX statement!

"Seriously, I appreciate Kathy for the work she does and the help she provides".

~ Jerome Casey, Vice President, International Ocean Operations
"In my opinion, Kathy is like the Jonelle Hunt of Airways. She has a hand in and detailed knowledge of everything we do in our corporate office and I mean everything…from Payroll, to our Medical Insurance coverage, to 401K benefits, to scholarship funding, right down to the last charge on my company credit card. I really have no idea how she keeps track of it all."

~ Brad Watson, Executive Vice President, International Division
Agent Spotlight - Jason Self
In 2021 we saw many challenges both professionally and personally throughout the year. Fortunately, our sales agent Jason Self, took the lemons of 2021 and created the best lemonade ever made.

While many struggled with lost customers, downturns in volume, and challenges in the logistics chain, Jason took on all those negatives and turned 2021 into the most productive and highest earning year in the history of Airways for a sales partner.

Jason officially began his partnership with Airways in Fall of 2012. His focus has always been on expedited and time sensitive shipments.

Working closely with both customers and vendors, he has been an integral part of many customers’ ability to keep the wheels of production operating smoothly and enabling quick turnaround times during maintenance or during down-times due to breakage.

“The secret to my success is learning from others, like Tom Hatfield. His approach was always direct and truthful with the intent on taking care of the customer, whether the situation was good, bad, or otherwise." says Jason.

Jason also has established a network of over 50 owner operators, with a variety of equipment in the Southeast region to provide services to Airways, making for more efficient and timely solutions to customer’s freight issue.

It’s clear that Jason has created the recipe for success and we’re grateful for his partnership with Airways Freight and he says "no matter how much success, you have to stay humble and continue to work hard".
