Fellowship Committee

A new committee called “Fellowship Committee” is being organized. The Fellowship Committee will be in charge of several scheduled meals during the year.

The first meal will be an early Fat Tuesday pancake breakfast to kick off the Lent Season on Sunday, February 27.

In early May, a potluck meal will be planned to celebrate our graduating seniors. On October 2nd, the Fellowship Committee will sponsor a Chili Cook-off in conjunction with the Fall Fest. The last meal will be for Stewardship Sunday.

For these four dates, the Fellowship Committee is asking for members to set up, cook, clean up, and decorate tables.

If you have questions or are interested in this Committee, please contact Karen Olson, 303-816-7441 or email at kdo7410@hotmail.com.
Do you care about racial justice and want to learn more?

A great way is to read articles, watch and listen to podcasts and videos and hear different perspectives on racism and its impact on our society. Since 2020, several members of the United Methodist Church of Evergreen (UMCE) have been meeting to learn about and discuss racial justice issues and ways to drive positive change in our world. In 2022 we would like to offer another group of people from UCME and our broader community the opportunity to be part of a new "Journey Towards Equity and Racial Justice" study dedicated to learning about and discussing racial justice topics from historic and current perspectives.

Sessions will be held from 4-5pm over Zoom on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month and the meetings will start on January 27th and go through May. We will review assigned links to articles, podcasts and/or videos, usually on one topic only, ahead of each meeting so that we may have in-depth discussions on specific issues; preparatory work for each session will typically take 1 hour or less.

We understand that most people who join the group will not be able to make every session, and that is okay. Further, participants do not need to know anything about racial justice or be a member of a religious organization to be part of the discussion.

We hope that you can join us as we all strive to raise the bar and take action for equality and justice. To become part of this supportive study group, please email Heather McGaughey (hpmcgaughey@gmail.com).
Next Woman's Bible Study

Please join the Women’s Wednesday Bible Study beginning 1/19/22 from 9:30-11:30 in Fellowship Hall AND on Zoom. The Adam Hamilton Study is: Words of Life: Jesus and the Promise of the Ten Commandments Today. They are not just a set of ancient rules, but a guide to experiencing a good and beautiful life today. The book and DVD will help us understand how to turn “thou shalt not” into a life-giving “thou shalt”.

Please contact Jeanne Ambrosier by rjambro@estreet.com or 303-674-6377 by 1/9/22 so she can order a book for you.
Sunday Adult Education Class

Come meet with fellow church members in the library between the two services. All are welcome and encourage to come! Hope to see you at 9:30 each Sunday.

January 16: As people of faith we have a special calling to honor all of creation. And that can start in our backyards, our kitchens, our recycle bins and with our daily choices. At Adult Education, this Sunday, our presenter will be Wendy Neuman, Director of Programs and Operations at Evergreen Sustainability Alliance. (Formerly EAS+Y)

Wendy will tell us about the latest programs that ESA can offer the mountain community, and she will give an update on the recent CO legislature changes with regards to plastics and recycling. Who does not want to live more sustainably?

We are becoming aware that EVERYTHING has a carbon footprint! Wendy will give us the latest update on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle PLUS a new one - Recirculating! Bring your questions and get answers so we can all be part of the solution to love our planet Earth!

January 23: Join us for an interesting discussion on the Golden Rule, a statement, in summary of the basic requirement for all human behavior, exists in all religions in some form. We'll take a closer look at it's multitudes of variations, it's history and the Global Ethic developed by 143 leaders from all of the world's major faiths in Chicago of 1993 which proclaimed the Golden Rule as the common principle for many religions.

January 30: Jerry Clark, Pastor Sarah’s husband   Jerry has been a member of the Baha’i for over 30 years and has served the community from Barbados to the north plains. He loves to talk about the common underpinnings that people of faith have in striving to serve God and our neighbors.
Mountain Sky Conference Disaster Response Fund - 2021

As a connectional church, we also embody a very basic understanding: we are one body, and when one member of the body suffers, we all suffer. We are called to relieve suffering and care for one another so the entire body can be whole. We in the Mountain Sky Conference are responding to the Boulder County fire in several ways.

- Our conference’s disaster relief donation page is ready to accept your generosity. Be sure to designate this donation is for “Marshall Fire relief”.

- The United Methodist Church of Johnstown needs to replenish “fire buckets”. Typically, a hub for these revolutionary tools, the entire supply was exhausted last year due to the Denton, Montana fires. Please consider donations to rebuild the inventory by visiting the site here: https://johnstown.church/disaster-response
