As you embark on your unique Becoming Orange journey, we welcome you into the campus community and look forward to supporting your successful transition to Syracuse University.

Leading up to Welcome Week and throughout your first year, New Student Programs will provide essential information, resources, and deadlines. To prevent missing information, we encourage you to explore the following and the Getting Started webpage.

Immediate Action

Set-up NetID and password: Helps you access digital platforms (e.g. SUMail email account, MySlice, Patient Portal, Wellness Portal and more).
Access Syracuse University Email Account: It is encouraged to access your SUMail email (i.e. @syr.edu) account often. Please note, future emails will not be sent to your non-Syracuse University email.
Preparing to Arrive: It is important to begin completing Required Tasks, making travel plans, move in plans and more as early as possible. More details will be shared throughout the spring and summer.

Apply for Housing

Due: May 31, 2025

All new students are required to live on campus and invited to explore the Living Learning Communities (LLCs) as an option. Apply for Housing by May 31, 2025 in order to participate in the roommate matching part of the housing process.

Health and Wellness Requirements

Multiple Deadlines

It is encouraged to complete required tasks as soon as possible. Failure to complete may result in losing the ability to register for classes, additional charges and/or holds on your student account.

Due May 31: Apply for Housing in order to participate in the roommate matching and selection process. If the deadline is missed, please still apply for housing as it is required for new students.
Due May 31: Proactively Enroll/Waive Student Health Insurance Plan (June Bursar bills will reflect the anticipated premium charge unless an approved waiver is received.)
Due July 1: Health History Form
Due July 1: Immunizations Records
Due July 1: Minor Consent Form
Due July 1: Tuberculosis (TB) Screening Questionnaire
Due Aug. 24: Community Wellness Requirement: Speak About It
