Discipleship
Lower School Offering
Makes International Impact
In recent years, Prince Avenue Christian School lower school chapel began a special tradition. At a designated time during their weekly service, students hurry down the worship center aisles to make an offering donation at the altar. Two students stand in front holding bowls that have been crafted by dividing a globe in two, and their classmates enthusiastically place their donations inside. While the beloved offering tradition is a time for students to apply their Biblical worldview, it is additionally an opportunity to provide funds for Tanzanian children across the globe.
Prince Student Government Partners
with Leadership Program
In an attempt to build stronger leaders in their high school community, Prince Avenue Christian School recently partnered with Chick-fil-A Leader Academy (CLA), a program designed to improve leadership in high school students through various service projects. CLA originates from the corporate Chick-fil-A level, but partnership with a local Chick-fil-A has given Prince the opportunity to participate. The current participants of the program are Prince’s 9th-12th grade student government officers.

Prince senior Gracie Cochran has been selected as the Rotary Student of the Semester for Fall 2022. Gracie was chosen by Prince teachers for her demonstration of the Rotary Club motto of “Service Above Self”.

Gracie is the daughter of Marcie and William Cochran and has attended Prince for 13 years. She is in the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Interact Club, Modern Music Masters, and Thespian Society. While at Prince she has been active in the Prince bands, fine arts productions, academic team, and student government. Gracie volunteers at the Athens Area Humane Society and Athens First United Methodist Church children’s, prayer shawl, and service ministries.
Academics
Mr. Taylor’s 2nd-grade students recently completed a lab in which they investigated mealworms. Students worked in small groups to observe the shape, measure the size, and count the number of legs of their mealworms. Students tested to see what environment the mealworms preferred and then built a maze to analyze what direction the mealworm would travel.
Prince 3rd graders took a field trip to the William Harris Homestead Museum and Education Center. The Homestead features a circa 1825 log house, outbuildings, lush gardens, and stunning landscapes and teaches visitors about Georgia history, homestead life, and agriculture.
Ms. Taylor’s middle school physical science students explored density in a class lab. Students determined the density of several liquids and compare the physical properties of those liquids.
Mrs. Mitchell’s anatomy students learned how chicken wing bones and muscles are homologous to the human arm, which points to a shared common Creator, God.
Mrs. Mitchell’s chemistry students completed a flame test lab in which they visually determined the identity of an unknown metal or metalloid ion based on the characteristic color of the flame.
Mrs. Reincheld’s geometry students completed a project in which they created books with conditional statements and reasoning logic. Students then visited 2nd and 3rd-grade classes and read their books to the younger students.
Alan Cook, retired professor from the University of Georgia School of Law and author of A Prosecutor’s Story, was a guest speaker in Mrs. Barry’s high school government class.
Prince parent Zeb Rogers visited high school Lunch and Learn to talk with students about his career in athletic training.

Prince sophomore Dylan Capps won Best Actor in state for his role as Bobby Child, and seniors Claire Gann and Kaylor Jones were named all-star cast.

Prince Fine Arts Director LaMurl Morris explains that the cast and crew worked together to develop and create all components of the show. "Our cast was able to reach a new level of excellence through their consistent hard work in understanding the text, learning the music and choreography, and developing characters. We are also grateful for the support and help of our fine arts parents who assisted in numerous ways."

After a special lower school program, the hallways and classrooms were full of excitement as grandparents visited classrooms, enjoyed refreshments at the Grand Party, and shopped at the Wolverine General Store and Media Center Book Fair. Many thanks to our Prince families for making this such a wonderful day together.
