What is a Grants Consultant…
and Do You Need One?
Most nonprofits want, and likely even need, to include grants in their funding mix. Diversification is a savvy thing to do, but not always easy – grants take time, along with well-honed research and writing skills. Designing solid programs and submitting successful applications requires structure and focus. You may be lucky enough to have an experienced grant writer – or even a team – on staff, but we know that many nonprofits do not have a function focused exclusively on this work. Learn more about the steps to submitting winning grants to decide if a grants consultant makes sense for your organization.

Nonprofit Vs. For-Profit Human Resources: What is the difference?
Human Resources is a critical function in any company – from a grassroots organization to big business. Attracting and retaining staff, providing competitive cost-effective benefit and pay plans, and creating and maintaining a healthy work culture are keys to a high-performing organization. Human Resource challenges for many non-profits differ from those in for-profit organizations. Understanding these is step one in building a sustainable nonprofit Human Resource function that results in happy employees doing excellent work.

Culture Change: Ask these Questions to Create a Culture of Compliance
2021 has been a year to recover and rebuild. Organizations are reflecting on their Codes of Conduct/Ethics, as well as focusing on their expectations around anti-racism, equity, diversity, zero tolerance for harassment, non-retaliation and non-intimidation. We hear these terms, and use them frequently, but do we truly get it, live it, and practice it? This means creating a Culture of Compliance, which usually requires culture change.
