DON’T BE A JONAH

When God calls you to a fierce and hard place, it does not work to try to evade His call. Jonah tried to avoid cruel Nineveh, but it got him three days and nights in the belly of a huge fish, possibly a whale shark by my reckoning.

When Jonah repented and vowed to obey the call, the fish gave him up to dry land. He went to Nineveh, and they turned to God even though it was only temporary.

When you and I evade the distinct direction given from God, He has a way to bring us back to perform the call just as He did with Jonah.

What is it that God has put in your heart to do? Are you doing it? If so, then it is well and good. But if not, then God’s rod of correction will likely come upon you, and that is not a pleasant thing to experience. I am sure that Jonah’s three days in the fish’s belly was not pleasant. It served as God’s rod of correction to Jonah.

If God, the Holy Spirit, impresses you to do a certain task, or perhaps to live a certain way, and you do not do it, what kind of rod of correction will discipline you? Do not expect God to honor your “non performances” of His will for you. Just as Jonah did not escape correction, neither will you. Sooner or later, you will pay the price for your lack of obedience.

You must repent and correct yourself before He must send his correction upon you. Self-correction is better than forcing God to correct you.

Failure to repent and “self-correct” may open to door for Satan to afflict you. Submit your way unto the Lord, repent of your disobedience, do what God already told you to do, and let Him help you.

THE COMING DARKNESS

A lot has been said about the “coming darkness.” There are prophetic words, and some have said stay inside your homes when it comes. These messages are nothing new. They have been circulating for a long time, and often instilling fear.

When we want to learn the truth, we go to the book that gives truth, the Word of God, the Holy Bible. It will not fail us.

We learn early in Exodus that there was darkness in Egypt for 3 days, while Goshen, where the Hebrew children lived had light. The darkness was one of the plagues, in fact it was the 9th plague before the last plague of death.  

There are those that say there may be three days of darkness coming, and it would not be a surprise if that happened, because history, including biblical history, often repeats itself. 

But we must know what to do if that happens, and that takes us to Isaiah 60:1-3 where it says, “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be SEEN upon thee. And the Gentiles (non-believers) shall come to THY light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.”

There is nothing in this passage that says to hide when the darkness comes. In fact, it says the opposite. We are to arise, and let the world see God’s light, his glory, be seen upon us. Because it is visible to those in darkness, and they will come to the Lord.  

So, we can talk about darkness all we want, but I prefer to talk about the light. It is the light that will change things, not the darkness. Yes, God will allow the darkness, so people see his power and majesty and then repent and come to him.

Am I afraid of what is coming? No, because as 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “God has not given us the spirit of FEAR, but of POWER, and of LOVE, and of a SOUND MIND.” Since God has not given us fear, it must come from the “dark side,” and we are not of that dark side. We are children of light.

Each person is responsible for their own actions. If at a point God says to hide, it is for your protection, but until then, shine for Jesus and make a difference by letting your light shine for the Lord and it will dispel the darkness.

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

Do not let anger control you. Moses lost his temper and it cost him his ticket into the promised land. Anger misdirected can lead to destruction of relationships and friendships. It can destroy a marriage, and can create wars. Think before you speak. Ask yourself is it worth getting angry over. Then season what you say with love before speaking something you may regret.

Holy Spirit, show us specifically how to minister to each member of our families. Reveal opportunities to share about You. Give us the courage to obey when You open the door to their hearts.

Lord, we thank You that You are the God of blessing, abundance and the supernatural. You are Almighty, the giver of every good and perfect gift. Lord, we stand before You now with a desire to go higher with You. Amen and Amen

PROPHETIC EXHORTATION

It’s true life is not always fair; But our God is always faithful. So be patient and cautious and don’t allow the cares of life to make you become complacent in who you are...Where God is taking you...And how you’re going to get there! Just know that you can’t go into your future while holding onto so very tightly to your past. There comes a time in life when you must shake off those old grave clothes of yesterday’s dead dreams and failures of your past...And..Get rid of the unnecessary baggage that you’ve carried for too long. Just remember that where God is taking you there is no room for excess baggage. Yes, it’s the people, places and the things that’ve weighed you down; And now it’s time for you to shake off, buckle up and move forward... For it’s time for your takeoff…And that calls for a wardrobe change! So clothe yourself with the garments of praise as you dress for success; For it’s time to realize and live like the person that is destined for God’s divine purpose!
