JASA Welcomes Consul General Mio Maeda!

The Japan-America Society of Alabama welcomed Consul General Mio Maeda to its February 23 Board of Directors meeting, held at the Hoover-Randle Home & Gardens in Hoover. The occasion marked Consul General Maeda’s second visit to Alabama since his appointment in November of 2022. He was introduced by Alabama’s Honorary Consul General, Mark Jackson, who traveled from England for the meeting. After greeting the JASA Board and a gift presentation by JASA President Mark Brown, the Consul General participated in a roundtable meeting with executives from Japanese companies and other Japanese leaders.

Consul General Maeda is a native of Hyogo prefecture in Japan. He is married and has one daughter. He is a graduate of the University of Tokyo and has had additional studies at the University of Oxford. He has represented Japan in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1990, including positions in Japan, Italy, Vietnam, Afghanistan and Switzerland. In 2019 he served as Chamberlain to His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, Imperial Household Agency, Japan.

JASA welcomes Consul General Maeda to his new position serving Alabama and other southeastern states. We look forward to his leadership and frequent visits to Alabama!
