November 8th brought us the long-awaited reopening of the United State land borders to non-essential fully vaccinated travelers. For many, this is a joyous occasion in which families who have been forcibly separated from their loved ones for the past 19 months finally are able to reunite. For others, and more prominent in the world of our CampCalNOW members, this means the return of the snowbirds! Hundreds of thousands of snowbird travelers enter the United State each year to escape the fierce Canadian winter and oh, how we’ve missed them! Reservation in the sunny desert parks have been filling quickly, and border lines stacking up as the anticipation becomes a reality for so many.
What should you know about the current travel guidelines?
To enter the United States, your guests will be asked to verbally attest to their reason for travel as well as their vaccination status. Individuals who are considered “non-essential travelers” will be required to be fully vaccinated. In most cases a verbal declaration will suffice, however all travelers should be prepared to show proof of their vaccination status if asked. At this time, there is no Covid testing requirements for vaccinated travelers entering the country, however those traveling back into Canada will be required to show proof of a negative test taken within the previous 72 hours.
