Pride,
I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break and that you and your family got to spend some valuable time together. My family and I enjoyed spending our Thanksgiving in town with our relatives. It was nice having some low-key time together to relax, reenergize, and to reflect on on the things I'm grateful for.
As I think about these next few weeks before our winter break, I'm excited about some upcoming events that I'd like to make you aware of.
For starters, our PTO is looking for parents to help donate $5.00 gift cards to give out to our teachers during their end of the year holiday party. More information about this can be found below.
We also have our next installment of Caregivers 101 coming up on December 6th. Each session is geared towards providing our families with parenting-related topics ranging from understanding your child's MAP data to understanding the hidden dangers of social media. On December 6th, the title is Ending the Silence, a session about mental health awareness and suicide prevention. The session will be lead by two of our partners at NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). Due to the copyright restrictions, we will not be able to record the session, so please make plans on attending in person (Eastview Baptist Church). More information is below.
For our high school students (9th - 12th), and some of our 8th graders taking high school credit courses, some of your courses have an end-of-course assessment (State mandated assessments). The list of courses and assessment dates can be found below.
We also have a kindergarten information session and open house for future families coming up this Friday. If you know of anyone who has a rising kindergarten student, please make sure you share our flier with them (below).
Lions, I'm looking forward to seeing everyone return tomorrow for another great day of teaching and learning at Riverwalk Academy.
In Strength and Blessings,
~Dr. Compton
