Are you looking to meet new people at Fourth Church? Build a community? Grow in faith? Engage in learning and conversation? Share your gifts with others?

This Sunday during Coffee Hour we will be inviting you to complete an interest profile so we can better identify activities that match your talents, gifts, and interests. We will also have photo booths, refreshments, and information about the many things happening at Fourth Church this season. Come find ways to “get connected”!

This week we passed 5,000 page likes for www.facebook.com/fourthchurch!

If you haven't yet taken a moment to like our page on Facebook, why not do so today, to ensure your News Feed includes fun photos of church life, favorite quotes from sermons and devotions, event announcements, and the latest news from Fourth Church.

We're looking for members of the community and the congregation who are interested in singing with the Choral Society at a November 9 concert commemorating the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1.

Rehearsals begin this Thursday, September 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Buchanan Chapel.

The civil war in Syria has created a desperate humanitarian crisis throughout the region. This crisis follows the floods of war-driven refugees coming out of Afghanistan, Iraq, and other nearby countries in recent years.

What are the refugees' needs? What are the challenges that nongovernmental organizations and religious groups face as they try to meet those needs?

Join us this Sunday as Mary Mikhael, a noted authority on the church in the Middle East and the role of women in the church, provides insights into these urgent topics.

We will gather for this one-session Academy for Faith and Life class on Sunday, September 16 at 12:15 p.m. in Room 5G.

Get your pets ready for an outing to the Michigan Avenue courtyard this autumn, on Saturday, October 6.

We’ll be gathering that day at 10:00 a.m. for a Blessing of the Animals service of song and story, giving thanks to God for the creatures that bless our lives.

If you’d rather not bring your pets, please bring photographs of them and join us as we celebrate the wonders of God’s creation and our relationships with its creatures, great and small!

  • 100 tutors by October 1 to mentor Chicago Lights Tutoring students one evening a week at the church
  • Ushers for the 8:00 a.m. service
  • Book Nook hosts for the 12:00 p.m. Sunday Coffee Hour to help people purchase books for classes and book groups
  • Shower Ministry greeters to serve on a rotating Tuesday schedule (1:15–4:00 p.m.)
  • Meals Ministry volunteers to unload the food truck once a month for approximately 3 hours; must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Pianist to play in Children’s Chapel from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. three Sundays a month

Fourth Church Meals Ministry needs 5,000 individually packaged snack items by October 1, items that will be used to fill the lunch sacks distributed to guests each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday noon in Anderson Hall.

Donations (labeled "Meals Ministry") can be dropped off during Coffee Hour any Sunday this month or at the reception desk on weekdays and Saturday.

This next Friday, an instrumental ensemble of bass clarinet, marimba, and violin will present our free Friday Noonday Concert.
